This DLX stuff has such a great mixture of everything to keep things interesting. Loving it.

I don't know if I'm imagining these songs being a bit more Mark heavy.

I second Good Old Days being a jam

Haven't heard the rest of the new songs yet but honestly wished they had only released 1 or 2 songs from this. With like the 4/5 songs that we have already heard it has ruined the hype a little.

Ahhhhh.....its so nice and refreshing to be able to say that I think the songs they didn't release off this are so much better than the songs they did release. This stuff is so much closer to what I was really hoping for from the beginning.

My Good Old Days is fucked up and jumps straight to the middle of Don't Mean Anything... any suggestions on Flac to MP3?

Decided to listen after all... Dude. "Don't Mean Anything" and "Good Old Days" would have been great on California. I like these two songs better than the rest of the deluxe we've already heard.

I'd throw Last Train Home in there too.

Me too. I just hadn't heard it when I posted lol now THAT song was a curveball. The level of creativity in that song makes me wonder what the hell they were doing when they made "Parking Lot" and "Wildfire".

On "Long Lost Feeling" right now... I feel absolutely stupid for doubting this release based on the two songs I mentioned above. These songs are fucking killer. This is more of what I was wanting from this deluxe edition.

Yeah this is better as an album than I was expecting, really thought the unreleased songs would be duds, glad I was wrong

I would honestly say "Good Old Days", "Don't Mean Anything", "Last Train Home", and "Long Lost Feeling" are better than all of the deluxe songs we had heard until now. Then I would maybe put "Misery" above "Bottom of the Ocean" but that one is still great.

Ok I'm back on board. I even don't mind 6/8 in the context of the album. Wildfire is still a swing and a miss to me though. These other songs are pretty great though.

    I listened. First impressions.

Parking Lot - Never been into it and that hasn't changed.

Misery - My favorite of the pre-released songs and I still dig it. Lyrics are still bunk. Song as a whole has grown on me a bit and I dig it overall. Little personal nitpicks (the "I don't need anyone" in the chorus, Matt repeating "misery loves company" in the second verse, "misery loves company" as a lyric at all) but it's cool.

Good Old Days - I counseled at a day camp where kids age 12-14 would be assigned into a band. Guitar players, singers, bassists, drummers, etc. They'd write two songs and perform them at the end of the camp for their parents. The lyrics to "Good Old Days" could have come from one of those 13 year old bands. Otherwise it's actually mostly fine. Nothing exciting, but I could see the hook growing on me a little bit.

Don't Mean Anything - Unspectacular. Not bad. Not exciting. Real poppy chorus that's aight.

Hey I'm Sorry - Wasn't into it when it was first released. Hook is boring as hell. Not into most of their whoa-ohs, and these in particular are a low point. I could dig the song if the verses/pre-chorus led to a better refrain.

Last Train Home - Prolly shoulda retitled it just to avoid any Lostprophets connection. Skiba's verse is cool. He sounds good. Song doesn't do much for me otherwise. Doesn't do much.

Wildfire - Wasn't into it upon release, softened a tinge on it now. It's fine but not what I'd prefer they be doing and the lyrics are butt. Catchy tho.

6/8 - Again, shoddy lyrics just get in the way for me. The spoken word part is one of my least favorite things they've ever done, just rambling vague spooky lines. I tend to like when they go darker but this doesn't quite do it for me. Maybe I've outgrown their lyrics, but as much as I try to separate from nostalgia (and admittedly, maybe it's impossible), self-titled is just so much better at being angsty and brooding but still feeling specific and real. They rarely hit that spot for me anymore, on any of their post-reunion releases.

Long Lost Feeling - I like this one. Fun reverb-y, electronic percussion. Melancholy hook. Harmonies. I actually really like this one. I would return to it. I could see it on the +44 album. This would rival any post-reunion song for me with just how pleasant I find it. It hits the right blink/Mark Hoppus spot for me.

Bottom of the Ocean - ...interesting, I guess. It actually does stuff I found surprising or interesting, which is more than I say for almost everything on California. I don't think it's great but it's something. Not sure how well it'll age for me.

Can't Get You More Pregnant - They put this on the album so I'm holding it against the album. Still stinky nonsense.

Bored to Death (Acoustic) - This is not good. I don't know if it's the leak but it doesn't even sound good. It's an acoustic version of a song from the regular album so whatever I'm not holding it against them or anything.

Overall I'd give it a 6.4/10. One song I genuinely really might end up loving, one I like, a bunch others I don't think much of and a couple I think are bad to very bad. I'm glad it exists because I got to hear Long Lost Feeling.

I would definitely say that Parking Lot, Wildfire, and Can't Get You More Pregnant don't fit the vibe of the rest of the songs. I hope they continue in the direction they seem to be going.
