the first thing he said when they performed at coachella was tom left for cigarettes and never came back and that dad is finally back. I don’t think there’s contention about the fact that tom l bailed twice.

 

I think “i’m fuckin paul revere” is my all time favorite cheesy tom lyric. Song is so brooding, and the tone is so strong and then he just drops the silliest line in the first verse. peak stuff.

 

I can't believe I'm about to see this iteration of the band again for the first time in a decade. Last time I saw them with Tom was the final Untitled full-album show in LA in 2013. They sounded decent then, and while I know nostalgia was a huge factor, I have no doubt they're going to sound amazing at this show compared to that one.

I was watching a video of one of their shows this week and I was like "fuck it. i don't want to wait til october!" so i went on a few sites to find cheap tickets for some shows coming up soon, but they're all so pricey still! so i gave up on that spontaneous dream of mine.

I know they're using more overdubs than they used to and that's partially why they sound so good. Can anyone who knows how this typically works explain it a little more in-depth? It appears to me sometimes Tom stops playing guitar entirely during the set to focus on singing? (I'm not complaining or accusing them of phoning it in, just curious to the extent of the backing tracks and how it works during the show)

 

Yeah, from the footage I've seen, there's at least parts of some songs where Tom has a backing track with his guitar part, so he can focus on singing. I think when they've tried backing tracks with Tom before, they used vocal backing tracks so he could focus on the guitar, and it was painfully obvious. (Watch the Blizzcon video of them playing Untitled. "I'm Lost Without You" is the best/worst example.)

2. Every day we stray further from 6/2, the more resentment I have for "The Stall"
3. Most people are turning this weekend into a 4-day weekend... why not have a new blink song to be the anthem?!
