Right, I guess what I’m saying is he balanced their egos and took their ideas to make a cohesive sound.

 

I’ve been saying do a single with “Tom from AvA” for soooo long now. Low risk and see where it goes

 

I am 100% a bigger fan of DED than I was of California or Nine.

I’ve come around on some of Nine, but I’d still say I like DED more.

I’ll probably never listen to California again.

 

California is lower tier blink, but it’s still home to a handful of great songs.

 

Over the last year the album I keep coming back to is Neighborhoods. California was fun for the time, but after the MGK album and pretty much every pop punk album that has followed, that sound is played out and stale.

That's why I also really have enjoyed Lifeforms. It's poppy at times but in a different way and some of Tom's best work since Untitled. There are parts of that album that sound more Blink than AVA (the backing vocals in Automatic practically sound like Mark).

I'm much more interested in something in the vain of Rebel Girl than Skiba or Mark doing their version of how they fell in love with an emo girl (ok, nothing on California or Nine was ever that bad).

 

Neighborhoods is trash. Nine is the best of their post Untitled releases.

A single with "Tom from AVA" just makes no sense. I get what you're saying, but there's no "featuring Tom from AVA" from blink at any point in my opinion. If Tom features, it's a reunion, even if it's a one-time thing. There isn't going to be any "AVA" attached to it.

I’ll defend California all day but I draw the line at deluxe haha. Some of those songs were some of the blandest pop punk ever written.

 

He loves marketing himself, so as much as it makes no sense, he’s kind of his own biggest fan and he may not opt for “featuring original member of Blink”.

I’ve also said they could try and tour together as cross promotion because that fits their fan base ,although Blink may be bigger, they could probably justify a similar venue co-headline Tour (and could share duties as needed).

 

Tom's self aware enough to know that AVA could never co headline with Blink.

 

I don't think anything needs to say "Tom from ___." It could just say "feat Tom DeLonge." People aren't dumb. And if that eventually happens, the sites that report about it will all mention his involvement with Blink because that's the bigger clickbaity headline.

 

A split single would be fun with a new blink song with Tom - blink with Skiba covering an AVA song and AVA covering a California or NINE song.

 

Sadly, people are dumb. Sublime with Rome, Queen with Adam Lambert.

Sadly, Bradley and Freddie are both gone so is there really a need to qualify the lineup you are seeing doesn’t feature the vocalist who was there when the band got famous?

Also, Even saying Blink with Tom sounds weird, since a majority of their discography is weird, so simply due to the fact that he a big self promoter, throwing in Tom from his active band AvA makes sense in a cross marketing way unless he joins the band again or anyone else can convince him other to just simply not hype any other project he’s doing (like Love albums and Love the movie or whatever it was).

Based on the fact that we never had to deal with Blink featuring Matt Skiba from Alkaline Trio means there are some more practical people who may have say in it….I’m just saying I wouldn’t be surprised if there was more than just Blink or Blink with Tom Delonge if a single came out. It has been a few years and albums since he’s been there too.

 

If (and I mean a huge "if') Tom were to do anything with blink in the future, I wonder what the contracts are going to look like. He signed away his ownership role for blink a couple of years ago, so it's going to be a little more complicated than "hey come join this song".

 

I'm pretty sure those two specifically legally had to rename the bands that way to not get sued.

 

If it happens, that’s one of the many reasons I hope it’s starts a just a single. You can be a hired feature and gets a cut like guests do (or an upfront payment like Biggie used to do back in the day), and see how it goes. They’ve had guests before on songs and must of had a deal place with Miley’s camp if that single was released.
