I mean, Tom has been in LA quite a bit recently.

Wait people can honestly look at Neighborhoods and DED and straight faced say Skiba is worse for the band than Tom?

Neighborhoods and DED were peak laziness in Tom’s songwriting. Dude was ripping off Smash Mouth for the love of god.

I mean realistically what are the chances of Tom actually coming back and not just him interacting with Mark and Travis on socials?

I full on believe he’s coming back, I just don’t know when.

 

I think Tom just doesnt like to play older blink songs... but he seems to not take himself as seriously these days... divorce and a new marriage could change a guy.. I think its just the magic of that classic lineup that every one wishes was still there. I love Skiba and am still a diehard Trio fan but Nine only hits on a couple tracks for me (On Some Emo Shit, Pin The Grenade, No Heart To Speak of)

 

They'll probably all do a song or two together, see how it works, and if it does, release it.

And then all fight again in a year or two and we can repeat.

 

Trio Skiba = pre-hiatus blink Tom > Heavens Skiba > blink Skiba > BCR Tom = Sekrets Skiba > post-hiatus blink Tom > AVA Tom

 

I just can’t picture Tom on a song that sounds like anything off of California or Nine.

 

I actually think Feldman would make Tom sound fucking awesome.

I would hope it would be anyone but Travis. But it 100% would be produced by Travis, unless they want to have a neutral fourth party as a producer like Jerry Finn was.

 

With how much stuff Travis has done outside of blink that I have no use for I've always been kind of amazed at how much he just does exactly what's right for blink. I'd still always rather an outside producer though. After Nine I have no issues sticking with Feldman

 

Let’s get weird and give us a Rick Rubin blink album. Alternatively a Steve Albini blink album.

 

Not sure what you mean by neutral, on Untitled I'm not sure a producer has ever been as much an official member as Finn was on that one. So much on that album just absolutely doesn't happen without him

 

Yup, which is why it was so dumb when the discourse on California and Nine turned into, “They have co-writers now! That’s not punk!” when it’s been going on for 25 years with them.

 

Neutral in the sense that he’s still an outside party guiding their sound rather than one of the members.
