I was so excited about this bass until I found out the bass has a pau ferro fretboard instead of rosewood.

  4. Ilan was on twitter recently asking for peoples NFT thoughts. I immediately thought it was because of Tom trying to get him on board.

    My people.

Why do people not like those? Maybe we'll have options for maple or rosewood

I don't like them because they feel like plastic to me. That and I know people don't like the orange/brown color and saturated wood grain they tend to have. Rosewood is naturally darker, softer, and the standard.

Fender started using them more when rosewood had laws on it. Those were lifted, but fender continues to use them on their made in mexico line because its cheaper and more available.

Mark does not use pau ferro. Never has actually. So if these necks are true fender necks, they're probably the same ones they use as their MIM replacement necks.

The block inlays are cool though, but this signature bass will not be true to form compared to what he plays. I'm pretty sure he mentioned the pickups aren't even Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounders like he's known for. So, it'll be interesting to see the full spec sheet and price.

I was so deep in my PhD work at that time I wasn't following the band at all...can only imagine getting hyped and immediately disappointed after.

Total opposite of the bored to death release.

Even more of a bummer! But, if he had his new signature bass built to the exact specs of the pink one he uses, that's probably pushing the $2k territory alone given the American neck, custom body work, custom paint job, custom pickguard, and the labor involved in the process.

Fender should really do a limited run of his EXACT specs. Just like Gibson did on Tom's signature guitar. It was expensive, but people bought those up and now they're going for like $10k used haha. Even Tom's made in mexico stratocaster wasn't exact specs. Wrong neck, tuners, and bridge on the factory built ones. Still sold like hotcakes though.

I REALLY want a bass, but only as a collection piece to hang/display because I can't play. I could learn to play, but I'd want it signed and then I wouldn't want to play it.

I can't justify that price and would rather actual players get it. I also wish it was the lighter pink color we all love.
Plus I need to save for a wedding,... right?

I have the OG seafoam green bass. I remember him mentioning only 50 will be made at first, are these pre orders?

They’re going to sell quick. Thankfully they’re only selling exclusively through HMNIM so fans have a better chance at getting one.

They're being released in batches of 50. There will be enough for anyone who wants one, it just depends how patient/quick you are.

  19. I think $1250's a little steep for me, unfortunately.

Cheshire Cat has some good ideas and melodies on it. It’s of course extremely rough but you can kinda see the potential. And Wasting Time rules

edit: it sucks they didn’t play that live on the mark Tom and Travis show so we could get a decent version with Travis and Jerry Finn

Still think it’s funny/ironic that when TMTTS was released in 2000 there was big fan backlash that the live album was missing some of their singles/promo singles (M+M’s, Josie, Wasting Time and Apple Shampoo) and had too many deep cuts and now all we do is complain that their set lists have too many singles and not enough deep cuts.
