At this point they should have a side project with Feldmann where he is filling that 3rd member space. I have no doubt it would sound pretty much the same as Cali/Nine but why not.

 

A project where it’s Mark and Travis with a female 3rd member would be awesome.

Still absolutely love that Amy Shark/Mark Hoppus feature song.

No thanks. I was a huge Goldfinger fan growing up but at this point I want Feldman to stay the fuck away from new blink. In my opinion, he doesn't understand what made blink special in the first place. We got two records with him, I want to see them step outside of this comfort zone and try working with someone new.

 

I would have loved to hear a full +44 record with Mark and Carol

 

Lauren Mayberry gets my vote in this fictional scenario.

 

Thats what +44 seems like it started out as with Carol Heller (who instead did guest vocals on See You Smile). I believe she backed out because she was pregnant or something at the time and maybe didn’t want to commit full time to a new band because she hd more important stuff going on. Glad they had her on for a song (and like backing on a few others I believe). They would have made a good record too had they had timing work out differently.

 

California felt what people describe as Feldmann/Goldfinger produced.

Nine feels very different from Cali and they did work with other people on that record. 5 producers are listed (including Travis, Feldmann, Tim Pagnotta, Matt Malpass, and Andrew Watt). They worked with a lot of people https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nine_(Blink-182_album)

I get there is a desire to see them work with someone new and that’s fair. I just think there isn’t enough credit to all those involved in making Nine sound great (Feldmann and everyone else). It was pop punk of the 2020’s.

 

I was sooo bummed when the whole +44 with Carol didn’t happened.I was so excited after hearing demo of No It Isn’t with her voice!Still remember that blurry smiley logo too and it just felt as the most natural progression after Untitled.I love that whole record to death but nothing tops that first demo with Carol for me.

I’m glad they included No It Isn’t on the album too. Having her on there and the demo gives hints at the project origin. Still wonder what would have been “album 2”.

 

What was the smiley logo? I've no memory of that at all

 

wow, I just heard the new MGK song with Willow and it's literally "Rock Show" distilled down to the lowest common denominators, just so bad. Musically and melodically it's 100% a mid-era Blink song, but with terrible vocals and worse lyrics

 

And it's the lead single to his upcoming album that will go #1 lol. Bad!

 

Not gonna lie, I vehemently hate this new wave of Pop Punk. It's so... Empty. Feels like music I would hear in Old Navy but worse. I blame Travis Barker for this lol

 

He’s actively participating in the copy cat era and profiting of it. It’s kind of clever. Totally agree the music has no appeal and devoid natural development. Travis drumming is good but not enough for me to listen to an MGK song.

 

You either die a pop-punk fan or you live long enough to see yourself hate the next generation of pop-punk bands.

 

Hot Mulligan’s new record and EP is what I want to see in newer pop punk band. Full of raw emotion, hooks and genuine sincerity. I feel like those guys would put on a good show even if only 1 fan showed up.

I don’t know much about MGK, but he seems like brand more than anything. I tried listening to one song when people hyped his album and it felt like wanna be blink. And lots of bands wanna be blink, but just aren’t.

 

Now I know how 90's punks felt about Blink 182 and Sum 41 in the early 00's.

Lol wow it's the laziest chorus ever. And the last line of it is clunky as fuck
