Honestly, from Mark, Tom, Travis, and even Matt's latest comments on the band, it seems inevitable that Tom will be involved in some way.

Neighborhoods was meh, some good stuff and some bad stuff. I thought DED was good though and I really enjoyed that style of blink.

that’s why I want Tom back in the band. I liked DED more than any of the Skiba era stuff.

I’m willing to give him another shot. It seems like all 3 are in a better place in their personal lives and with each other than they were in 2009. Tom seems to realize from his comments about Neighborhoods that he was a problem. He’s lessened his stance on having outside help with his last AVA album. I know it will most likely end poorly like it did the last time but I would really like at least another album with Mark, Tom and Travis even if it ends up being a mixed bag like Neighborhoods.

  4. Between Neighborhoods and DED, there’s like 8 songs that I like. Meanwhile, Nine has at least 10 songs that I love haha. I’d easily take a Nine follow up with Matt over another Neighborhoods with Tom. Easy. BUT I’d take another Neighborhoods over another California/Cali Deluxe.

I definitely prefer Nine to Neighborhoods and DED but I can't lie that I wouldn't be interested to see what they could do with Tom these days. I think in my ideal world, they'd end up a four-piece. Just because I don't want to lose Matt, but my curiosity is piqued with the idea of Tom.

I’ve been saying all along, Blink feat Tom from AvA.

Good marketing, good times. That can be enough, for now. It’ll fuel the fire, but it’s a good way to test the waters.

I think I'd be down for a reunion tour with Tom but I'm not interested in any new music from him.

  10. A tour would be fun (although Tom’s been very vocal about not liking touring with Blink cuz he doesn’t like to play all the same old songs.) If they were to do a tour, maybe they’d do a new EP or something so there’s some new stuff to add to the setlist, since there’s no chance Tom will play any of the California/Nine stuff.

    Also
If you rejoin a band you can’t be a diva and ignore work the rest of the band did keeping the name and brand alive.

Look at Mr. Brett from Bad Religion. When he came back to the band he did one song on an album, which was Believe it on New America. It helped mend a damaged bond. He left originally pursue other things (running Epitaph) and battle his demons and manage his personal stuff. When he came back he was inspired by need to keep writing and desire to work with the guys again. He’s back in the band now, writing like before, but in a more fluid role that works for everyone. He doesn’t really tour much, but can and will do shows sometimes. He’s still writing and performing on the albums, and is involved. But, the band functions without him. If he were to walk away again to keep running Epitaph and produce Bad Religion can carry on.

Blink should keep the functioning lineup with Mark, Travis and Matt. Plus they’ve made to two good records (love Nine). Start with a song or single. Work together. IF….you go down the road of having Tom eventually return, at least you have a safety plan for when or if he bails again.

Yes….I know I’m not in the band….but good advice and looking what’s worked for others is wise to consider.

  15. I still don’t think Tom will play Matt songs if he ever replaces Matt permanently. They’ll pretend like that era never existed. Most of the general fanbase probably wouldn’t even care. I mean, they don’t play any Neighborhoods/DED songs with Matt. It’d be just the same. Also, Tom can barely play his own songs let alone someone else’s. Haha. If anything, they’d probably only play “Built This Pool” and go right into “Dammit” at the end of the set. Haha.

Then definitely don’t let Tom rejoin Blink. Haha

As of now Blink includes Mark, Travis and Matt. If he’s in the band ignoring b2 records when he helped keep them afloat is disrespectful to him and then active fanbase.

If Matt bows out, then Mark and Travis can decide to not play songs to make Tom feel comfortable if they want.

Im honestly more interested in hearing new music from these guys than shows by these guys.

What I would give for the Mr. Brett approach for these guys. This is the ceiling for Blink. BR has been better than ever on their last few records (save for their 80’s stuff) with him writing and recording. If we got something like that and it was of similar quality, we should shut the fuck up and be thankful.

Thanks. And you’re absolutely right about how BR is still putting out top tier material. They made a decision along the way to make sure the quality of the band was a priority. They even went against fan nostalgia and have avoided becoming a band they just acts like a jukebox playing the hits.

At this point Blink has their legacy and their money. I think Nine was great example of the band not just trying to capture nostalgia (like California), and just trying to create a good record and not just crafting a radio single (and by deciding against releasing the Miley version of Really Wish I Hated You shows they gave up some extra press). Nothing against the Miley version and I like a bunch of California. I’d just be in favour of them making the tough decision to try and keep that quality up there like with Nine.

So did mine! I got the chrome bunny sticker. Did you manage to snag one of the blue crewnecks? I had to settle for the black.

  22. Yep! Got blue! It fits really well, super happy with it.

Damn. Jealous of the blue. But yeah, I can agree that it fits great! Much higher quality than I was expecting.

There was a post on Reddit from a user saying his source works for someone within Travis artists camp etc and stated mark and Travis were recording in Travis studio recently but with a diff person who wasn’t matt or Tom

who knows if it’s reliable source
If it’s true could just be a collab with another artist possibly

Even if someone made that up there’s still a 85% chance of that being true based on Mark and Travis work history and output. They even appeared together in the music video for some of the guest spots they done together like Goody Grace.
