That Baby, Come On line now always reminds me of the Iron Chic lyric from “Spooky Action at a Distance”

“You know that time’s a wheel
And if we stand right here
    We can see for miles
You could even see for years”

Both are in line with the cyclical nature of human behaviors and psychology, and also some scientific theories of time being singular/fixed (which makes sense given the Iron Chic song’s title). I like the implications of both lyrics, though wouldn’t put the Baby, Come On line in my personal favorite lyrics from that album.

Would be more fair to compare the lyrics of Rock Show with First Date since they’re the two songs Mark & Tom wrote quickly to appease the record execs. who wanted a “blink single”

I can’t wait for people to dissect the meaning behind Family Reunion’s lyrics. Jk.

I think the +44 songs that have resonated with my lyrically are mostly Lycanthrope, Lillian, Weatherman, and Chapter 13. Some of Mark’s best stuff.

  7. Personally, nothing tops BCR, in terms of side Blink projects. I’d say +44 is tied with the couple of decent AVA albums. Some great songs, some meh songs. Pretty half and half.

Also changes the meaning in the bridge where he sings “my friends are daring me to come over. So I come over and over and over”.

+44 and BCR have highs as good as the best blink stuff. I’d put maybe 5 AVA songs close to that level and the rest is pretty good to pretty bad. Speaking of lyrics, I think Tom’s lyricism took a sharp nosedive after untitled, which is a big part of why I struggle connecting with any AVA/post reunion Tom blink

+44 and Boxcar are my favourite of the side projects. I also enjoyed the Sekrets stuff and Kevin seconds split if were allowed to include those.

My favorite Mark lyrics are probably all on Dude Ranch. Songs like Apple Shampoo, Josie, Dammit, Waggy, Lemmings are really funny and emotionally affecting

My buddy and I had a couple hours on the road yesterday and we listened to Cheshire Cat all the way through for the first time in probably 15 years lol.

Kind of a fun table turn that Mark sings most of the "serious" songs on there.

Nothing by AVA touches +44. If I had to pick Boxcar or +44 it'd be close but I just like Mark better

(+44) sounds like 2006 and that’s not a bad thing. I adore that album. It’s aged better than We Don’t Need To Whisper.

+44 was one of the albums I ended up buying right after my horrible breakup. It was definitely a good album for that.

Also yeah I like the past/future lyric. I always took it as "well you already know where this/your life is going because you know the choices you tend to make" etc....doesn't seem overly complicated, time is a flat circle-y lol. Also combined with the previous line, def seems to be insinuating a "hey we were together before, we'll be together again" type of sentiment.
