listening to neighborhoods, hoping to participate in this conversation I realized I actually like most everything on it

In my opinion there are only three songs on Neighborhoods that live up to its predecessor…Up All Night, After Midnight and Even if She Falls. Everything else (and everything on DED) just feels like ideas to me. Never fully fleshed out.

I love every song on Neighborhoods and it holds a special place in my heart, but it is so frustrating how disjointed it feels.

Those harms on "Ghost On The Dance Floor" are so good.

Natives had potential to be great, but its got a weak chorus.

I feel like Natives needed a better intro too. It just kind of starts ala M&M’s but it feels like there’s something missing in the beginning.

Main problem is that the guitar intro to Natives sounds like they recorded it during Cheshire Cat lol

  8. Nah, cuz M+Ms is on Cheshire and sounds way better than Natives. Haha

The ending of Natives is also kind of funny where the guitar fades out before the bass. Really feels like an emailed track moment.

Gimme light, gimme love, gimme fire

Mark’s “Without a place to gooo-ooo-ooo” “it’s like the evidence is cared for, evidently cleea-eea-ear” are some of the best moments on the entire record.

mark's backing vocals are a real highlight across neighborhoods, they make "love is dangerous" for me

hate all this nitpicking of "natives," a badass song they wrote in a room together iirc

I apologize to this site but all of these recent developments plus how good the new AVA album is have made me fully aboard the Tom coming back train now

I remember feeling that way when Dream Walker came out. I thought it was a good release for Tom and was stoked to hear what blink was going come up with next after that AVA album/short film. Then Tom dipped out again haha.

Are people expecting current Blink to a scrap the record they were 85% done after some productive conversations with Tom?

This is a real question. And I hope not.

If they change their long term plans and become and four piece or whatever, that’s fine. I’d just rather them internally come up with a road map for Blink, Trio, AvA, producing projects or any other side projects so it’s all about having some good content to keep themselves and fans happy.

Yes, it wouldn't be surprising to me if they did just that.

After what Mark went through over the last year I imagine his lyrics are going to be a bit different going forward and whatever they already have written he may not be that stoked on anymore.

I guess it’s possible that saying the album was 15% incomplete could be somewhat in the lyrics department or leave room to keep adding stuff.

Nine was not lyrically immature or silly by the bands lyrical history, so I don’t know if everything would require a full lyric overhaul. Plus If Matt wrote lyrics for anything (or they had guests) they may not feel the need to change anything that could be complete.

Lots of people didn’t like Happy Days (I did) which dealt with Mark’s struggles. So expecting Mark to write lots of his health situation may not happen immediately. Although writing new songs and adding content if they desired could make sense to your point.

But you don’t even know what it sounds like? It’s not like we get one release or another? Is it how they’ve described it or the fact that there may be guests (which personally I’m not looking forward to many or any guests really).

Mark's still the same guy. Seriously doubt he's gonna scrap every single thing he wrote and write The Black Parade. It was honestly weird when people were hoping he'd write like darker lyrics cause of this tbh

What like Feldy pushing him into a wall and Tom pulling his hair out? Haha

Lol personality wise I honestly can't picture them co-existing in a studio even if Tom softened on having a producer

Feldman: "Ok, I'm going to go make a cup of coffee, and when I get back I want to hear a fully-written chorus!"

    Tom: "No."

That's pretty much how the first and only day would go, I think.
