Neighbourhoods has some of Tom’s most profound lyrics.

“love, love is dangerous” - Tom Delonge.

The chorus with dual harmonies (particularity the stacatto “I-I-I”-triplet sounds) and bridge featuring Mark’s best bass sounds puts it over the top.

It’s as close to “Don’t Leave Me” as we get on the record and I’m a Mark guy through and through, so I am biased to liking his stuff more.

  7. HAG interlude is the biggest waste of space in their discography.

Crazy take when it's just boring and a third the length of worse fully realized songs

Brad! No! I feel like this is the first opinion I’ve ever disagreed with you on. I feel like it adds hype/anticipation to HAG. When I listen to it, I’m always like “dang, when is this about to drop?!” in nervous excitement.

Secondarily, the band said they couldn’t decide to make it a rock song or a slow acoustic song so I feel like the interlude gives us a taste of what the slower acoustic version could’ve sounded like.

I quite literally stayed Up All Night before the release and it was so epic. We got the music video and I had to stay up to go surfing the next day before hurricane Irene. We hit the pre-storm swell and it coincided with the anticipated blink release. Those traded vocals are core blink.

    And just to triple post:

I’m a Love Is Dangerous lover. Think it could’ve been a heavier more aggressive song in the end, but definitely happy with what we got for Neighborhoods as a whole.

Was it the Untitled pt 2 that everyone was expecting? No. It was still great to get another album out of that lineup though and a great time to be a fan.

This Is Home is arguably blink's worst song. It's so bad. Everything about the guitar really throws me off.

I’ll die on a hill about Fighting The Gravity being a great song. It’s straight up a Mark song, and I feel like a good indication of where (+44) were headed or his solo album, but I’m glad it was included.

I don’t hate it, just has always been a bit of a snoozer for me.

Regarding Natives: one of my favorite Mark choruses, but damn are Tom’s vocals with that weird echo effect annoying on that one.

  19. Hahaha I was drunk lastnight and maybe over exaggerated a bit. I don’t like the interlude but there are definitely worst tracks in their discography haha.

The interlude is fine but it also rivals the shit I used to record on garage band when I was 15.

I really enjoy Love is Dangerous, don't understand why so many don't like it.

Neighborhoods has a lot of great songs. Ghost on The Dance Floor, Wishing Well, After Midnight, Up All Night, are all upper-tier blink songs

One of worst things about Neighbourhoods is how inconsistent the production and mixing is. Not to mention Tom sounds so different across the board. Up All Night and After Midnight is classic Tom but on songs like Natives he just sounds straight up bad.

Neighborhood’s is good. Untitled was incredible though so you can kinda see why the hype died for us fans. For me natives, after midnight, and even if see falls are the best songs on it. Still believe if they get a producer and work “together” there’s still magic to be made with this band. Mark and Tom were meant to make music together and we all know that.

  25. Natives is one of the best examples of why Neighborhoods reeeeally needed a producer. There’s a decent song in there but my goddd that recording couldn’t be less lifeless.
