The Adventure and The War are probably the only AVA songs that I could've seen becoming a Blink song.

The War with a darker Untitled take would be an amazing blink song

I have a vague memory of one of them saying The War was intended to be a Blink song? Maybe even demoed?

You can hear the riff from Up All Night in the Untitled album launch documentary. I think they probably picked up with whatever they had when they got back together.

On the flipside Lost Without You is the perfect launch pad for Tom to go from the darker songs with heavier guitars into the more sprawling anthemic songs into AVA.

It Hurts definitely could have been as well:

    Play that at 1.25 speed

"Your best friend is not your girlfriend" in It Hurts sounds extremely out of place on the AVA album but is a total Blink line, I always thought that song was an obvious Blink holdover

    Are You Watching Closely?

I always thought that line was awful and felt extremely out of place on any album lol (and this coming from a huge fan of that first record and the band in general)

^ What does that lyric even mean?

Urgh this song would be 100x better if they just removed that "It hurts it hurts it hurts it hurts" part and added more distorted power chords to the chorus.

  13. i've always thought of that line as basically meaning this:

you and a dude grow up together, you're best friends your whole lives. then your friend gets a new girlfriend and he calls her his best friend, in a lovey dovey kinda way, and it makes the original best friend jealous.

that's the only way i've been able to make sense of it though, haha so i dunno

That’s the beauty of Mr. Delonge’s lyrics. It contains multitudes. Truly a master of his craft!

Curious about Blink songs that best represent each member.

Down for Travis. It is my favorite drum part, his solo live was so good, and the music video is a reflection of his lifestyle at the time.

Ghost on the Dancefloor for Tom. Maybe not his best song, but I thought it did a really good job pulling all of his styles and feeling uniquely Blink

Dammit for Mark. I am pretty sure he wrote the guitar riff. Lyrics embody his narrative storytelling and the vocal performance rules. I would be happy to see a lot of their setlist get shaken up but I can't imagine a Blink show without this song.

The only answer for Matt is Black Rain.

If there's one thing I learned from Tom, it's that love is truly dangerous.

You'd think so, but I think I remember Tom saying it's actually about a buddy of his whose wife cheated on him. Apparently "The Adventure" was also written to be an inspirational anthem for this same friend.

Went down a YouTube rabit hole and found this video of them performing WMAA on MTV in 99 with the song played a full step UP from the recorded version. Did they always do that?
