Man do I hate Cut Me Off. Wonder what the consensus would have been if Fell in Love never existed and See You replaced it

  2. I don't think anyone's gonna eat any costs? It's projected to make tens of millions? This seems like some wish casting cause you're mad Green Day looks to be fumbling rn.

WWWY year two would beg to differ with your take on people attending legacy fests and shows back to back. Didn't all of these concerns get talked about at Nausium when the first tour went on sale? Also, Green Day is a band I have never seen live. As the main band I would never spring for tickets but the lineup for this tour piqued my interest in a way no past GD headliner has. I think it's pretty strategically genius because SP and Rancid have diehards that are different enough but still in the same world as Green Day. To say their tour manager doesn't know what they are doing is ignorant to Green Day's history and connection to Rancid and SP. First date Tim will join Green Day for an Op Ivy song, it will be on youtube, and die-hards will scoop tickets in droves to not miss it.

Nah no bitterness here, I want both bands to do well. Only pointing out that some of the Blink shows (and likely MOST of the Green Day shows) will be soft/buyers market for stadiums.

Interesting take (sincerely). I'm a big fan of both GD and SP but I wouldn't imagine there fanbase necessarily has a TON of crossover. Also SP can be a fairly volatile live band, dropping well known songs in favor of odd jams/covers but I imagine Billy will know who is playing for and keep it fairly straightforward for a stadium crowd. In terms of this vs. Hella Mega, not that we've seen dates, but if they decide to do ALL ballparks, I imagine it'll struggle in non-major markets.

  6. Based on ... them just having the most successful run of their career:
Embarking on a world tour that began in March of 2023, it has now been revealed that it’s the highest-grossing tour of their career thus far. Tom Delonge, Travis Barker, and Mark Hoppus, who reunited back in 2009, have sold over a whooping half a million tickets these past months, averaging more than 15,000 fans at their shows, according to Billboard. Adding more excitement to that number, the tour reportedly grossed $85.3 million. To put that into perspective, the band is bringing in around $2.4 million a night. It’s important to note that these numbers are only for their North American leg part of the tour, with them still having dates lined up for the rest of the year and in 2024.

... and the promoters are telling me early numbers are incredible for this batch as well?

I don't see how this is "struggling."

That’s fair. If you got inside intel that sales are doing well, that’s good news all around. I wish they had a more desirable support act but I assume PTV also helps move tickets so I’ll use that as a concession break.

  8. They have to announce more support at some point right? Feel like a local ish band or two from the areas would be fun.

There is still a disbelief at how resonant legacy bands are and how much of a moment punk and guitar-based music are having right now even with receipts to show the impact. Everyone has been saying tours and fests are going to crash and burn post covid and they keep doing better than any tour in a bands career. I am sure it will drop off at some point but we are in a renaissance and that rips. Personally stoked to be relishing in this era of live music.

Yeah, the last SP tour w/Interpol did decently which surprised me so maybe they are more of a ticket draw than I realize.

I never thought I would talk about Denny's twitter on this site... but here we are... they seem to hint at more of these things are coming. Them tweeting "All The Slam Things" excellent. Brilliant marketing, super fun.

On Green Day (I'm a fan and think they are one of the best live bands out there) will go out and do the same show they did in stadiums three years ago. Same set design, probably same ish setlist with 2-3 new songs, same bits during Know Your Enemy and wasting too much time on Knowledge. I love them but they won't get my money again soon.

Blink's new album cycle and this tour just feels so much fun, so fresh compared to Green Day churning out the same old political fueled songs while performing the same show. Not bad, but just doesn't carry that same excitement.

Is it an actual music video or just a tour promo? I dont see a single pro camera in sight

Maybe it’s just by design to not have a pro camera? There was a post a few pages back from somebody who was there and they told them it was a music video.
