This was absolutely me in late 2006 when WDNTW and WYHSB had been released and blink-182 was my favorite band. I just hated that they had broken up so I mixed up the tracklist and created a double album consisting of 20 songs I think. There were a few from each band that I left out.

Cynical: I almost regret pressing play but this song is pretty fun
BTD: I liked this a lot more when it came out. I see why people like it
SOOHM: yeah I swear I view this as a joke song now. It’s a guy talking about some crazy girl he likes when she’s actually super normal and just a little goth
LA: this song is bad now. I used to like it but it reminds me of a lot of music that I hate
Sober: I hate this song. Just about every part of it

No future: pretty good song. I don’t like repeating the chorus but replacing the lyrics with nah, and I also think the “no future!” part is forced but other than that, good song
Home is such a lonely place: sweet little song
KOTW: points for having the only riff on the album but the lyrics are meh
Teenage Satellites: always my least favorite but when listening last night I realized the bridge especially fucking sucks
Left Alone: I’ve probably heard this song 20 minutes and I couldn’t tell you how any of it goes other than “left! Alone!”
Rabbit Hole: aside from “dear head, shut up!” and the gang vocals this is a jam
San Diego: I like this song a lot. There’s some moments on here that were clearly meant for arenas and the bridge is one of them
Only thing that matters: this song has easily aged the best on the album
California: this feels like 2016

I like pretending "Sober" is actually a country song, and that makes me like it more.

 

Sober should've been the follow up single after BTD, not SOOHM

 

I, too, know more than one of the biggest pop punk bands of all time about single selection.

I did not miss that type of discussion during the album cycle.

 

Hit number 2 at alt radio. #11 at hot rock songs. #4 on rock airplay.

Was a great single choice that it incredibly well as a single. Literally, one of their best performing singles of all time:

SOOMH was a safe single, and I love that song so much. Definitely top 5 on California for me. Sober would have made a great country pop crossover song. I would have been so stoked on that, haha.

 

Sober would have been a great single. Bored to Death was a great lead, and I think it was bold decision to chose Home Is Such a Lonely Place (great song) but with that video I’d say it worked wonders for a bigger audience.

She’s Out of Her Mind is a fun video in a Blink way for fans because of the throwback. I guess they wanted to show they are still Blink (with Matt and not Tom).

 

SOOHM was a great single, but I'm not gonna pretend I'm not a little biased, cause I'm not the song's biggest fan.

I'm not good at predicting what will go over with the public: Big, high-production, dynanic songs, with complex melodies (a la BTD) represent my taste in pop music, but it seems repetetive, consistent, earworminess seems to win over most radio listeners (A la The Rock Show).

But I do think Sober had a high-risk, high-reward factor that could've done great on Pop radio cause it had the Patric Stump, catchiness factor. Plus The massive guitars, the nanas, and clever lyrics, make it probably the most fun song on the albium.

It also could've done incredibly average, but I really have a hard time believing it would do poorly, unless it was just too happy and polished for the Alt stations to pick up on.

 

Single choices aside, I think Sober is the far superior song
