Didn’t know Mark wrote the chorus for I Miss You, cool!

Over the past few years I think we've learned that Mark has written a lot of stuff that we all assumed Tom did

    The riff from Dammit too

Watching Mark comment on that album launch video was amazing.

I must have watched the original video dozens of times since I was a kid lol hearing Marks take on it and discovering so many things was amazing. We even got the lyrics to a lost song!

    And Mark singing BoxCar Racer!!

Tensions in the band already existed probably and obviously Mark probably didn’t want to get into that.

overall just so good. The video ending with “what we are going to do next is going to be amazing!” was always so bittersweet.

I love that record and the behind-the-scenes stuff, but I can only imagine how frustrating and exhausting that recording process was. It looks like they had fun at some points and I'm sure they got to experiment more than ever, but that's a long ass time to kick out 15 songs. Mark was shocked when he saw that clip of him saying "We have two songs in the can" and the caption said "Day 60". haha.

i wouldn't lose my mind over the demos either (obv aside from songs that didn't make the cut) but it'd still be fun to listen through at least once, like the Enema demos, just to hear stuff like parts being shifted around, different lyrics and such

"And she's trying to sleep it off with her head on my shoulder
And I'm trying to keep it out of my thoughts when I hold her"

There's no +44 thread that I know of, so just sharing my thoughts here this super early morning when I should be asleep, but these demons keep me up all night. :P

I think hearing “Falling” demo is cool. It doesn’t feel finished. Quality of the recording was good (someone fixed the blips), but it has rough edges (no vocals in al in chorus section, the howl, and maybe unpolished lyrics). If there are more demo songs that aren’t going to get finished from the Dude Ranch to present era I would want to listen.

Hearing a demo close to the final version you’ve had for years doesn’t do much for me. If they are different though, that’s interesting. Bad Religion’s Don’t Lose Your Head demo was cool because it was much faster than the final album version. Stuff like that.

The MTV Launch special showed that Mark originally recorded the vocals for I Miss You in a much higher octave. Also Tom was singing completely different lyrics for Asthenia. AND there was that one scene where Tom kept singing a hook "Silence don't mean a thing," unclear what song it was for.
I think it would be really cool to hear the Untitled demos.

I always thought that silence don't mean a thing could be a prototype of Violence

Damn, that might be his first tattoo in like 15+ years. Didn’t he have something behind his ear already? Guess that covered it up.

    Happy anniversary, Nine!

What are y'alls favorites,?? I first heard and loved Pin the Grenade (and mentioned that here ;) ), but ever since I heard a review of No Heart and I heard it, it's been my favorite. Also like Black Rain, I Really Wish I Hated You, darkside, Hungover You...

  21. Godddd I still love this album so much. I feel like I gush about it in this thread at least once every couple weeks. I can't name favorites because I love just about all of them. But "Happy Days" is still my least favorite, for sure, haha.

Funny, I'm listening to Happy Days right now lol but it's cuz I'm listening to the review podcast. Probably one of my least faves too, but there are a couple others, lower tier. Maybe run away and on some emo shit?? I certainly haven't listened to them much.
