Honestly completely different genre and band, but when Danny left Asking Alexandria initially they used all of his vocals for backup with the new guy. Maybe it’s something similar where they just don’t create a new one?

Maybe it's just not the spirit of blink-182 or something, but I always kinda wondered why they didn't bring in some touring members for some of that stuff. It might add some extra layers to the sound.

  3. For sure. And there'd be a lot less room for these kinds of errors. If Green Day can do it, why can't Blink?

    Better than you, sorry

I don't know why they use backing vocals. I can somewhat be okay with backing guitar simply because they need two guitars. But backing vocals...why even perform?

  6. If you have no idea what you're talking about ... why even post?

Backing tracks such as keyboards, guitars, and vocals are all very commonly used live this day and age. It helps fill out the songs more and they’re a good reference that everything is staying in time. Blink used to blow through their sets and play everything super fast, where someone was always off. Tom used to make the joke that he’s going to sing out of key and play out of time.

Bottom line is they’re used all of the time. You only notice because this instance was a screw up.

Those are in the song. Tucked in the back of the mix, but they're there.

The backing vocals like the ones in the recent set aren't meant to be heard by the audience though. Not sure if that was clear or not. They usually only exist in the band's in-ear monitors to help them keep time and pitch in case the acoustics of the venue/stage make it too hard to hear each other or themselves (even a slight delay caused by the room will make it impossible to play properly).

It's basically an entirely separate topic than them using an audible backing track for guitars or the extra elements like keyboards and samples.

cant really think of any, at least that I’m a fan of. with or without Tom they’re easily one of the worst live bands of their size, which is weird because the vocals and guitar parts are incredibly easy

Ah is it time to make assumptions about Matt's well being from a 40 minute performance?

I love when it's that time

Least it doesn't get as bad as it gets in the FB Trio group where everybody acts like they know him like he's their brother

Bring Me The Horizon used to have pretty questionable live performances.

  17. The Used is pretty bad live these days

matts pretty abysmal live regardless of what band hes in, which is really confusing considering how strong he is in the studio

It's pretty weak to speculate on whether someone is having issues with drugs or alcohol from afar based on how they look in a YouTube clip.

blink has never been a very good live band but they are still sound way better than like 15 years ago. Saw them over the summer and they were fine.

Also, I saw The Used this past summer too and I thought they were great.

Let's hold our breath until we disappear

The Used's new guitarist really impressed me. Very full and powerful guitar tone too.

I love this show! Oli’s vocals are pretty bad, sure, but he almost makes up for it by being a great hype man. The rest of the band is on point as usual. And the crowd is just wild! I would have loved to be in it.

Edit: Just want to add that while I love blink and they’ve been my favourite band since 2001, I don’t think I would pay to see them again. Every live clip I’ve seen during the last few years have looked so dull and boring. Hopefully it’s better when you’re there, but it’s not entertaining at all to watch.

Oh yeah me too, it's leaps and bounds above blink theae days, but this was when Oli was buried WAYYYYY in the mix.
