  1. Is he really on the same level as Tupac was?? What a world... I used to be super "hip" and I knew everyone on the radio, I saw every single music video on MTV, VH1, Fuse, etc. But now I have no fucking clue... haha. "Ok boomer."

Hooray for them. A band that was created solely to have sex with young girls or a horrible abuser. Top notch choices

  3. Let's stop pretending they "don't know" ... they know, this fact isn't up for debate ... and to provide cover in anyway to that fact is being disingenuous at best.

Well said. blink, and Trio (and Brand New, and a ton of other bands and artists) were all extremely important to me growing up but I have completely cut them out of my life, deleted all their music, gotten rid of my t-shirts, and all of that. It sucks to have to let go of something that meant a lot to you for so long but I honestly couldn't derive any enjoyment from listening to the music anymore even if I wanted to. It's all totally ruined.

And with blink specifically, I'm honestly ashamed of myself for not doing it sooner, just based off of Travis's individual association with XXX even before the full band was involved.

  5. I almost envy this level of internet naivety.

  6. I basically only come to this site and chill in my typical threads, listen to comedy or music podcasts, or watch The Office deleted scenes/bloopers on YouTube. That's pretty much my only internet intake, haha...

I think blink definitely knew, but I think the extent to which they knew is up to debate, cause X has such a convoluted past no singular crime really comes to mind when talking about his "troubled past".

Most kids my age will cling to the "the rape accusations were proved false" claim, which is an absolutely misleading claim, the trial was anulled following his death, but of course all the major Hip-Hop publications went with the headline "XXXTENTACION FOUND NOT GUILTY" and yeah, that became the narrative.

Then the prison beating (homophobic hate crime) and earlier violence-based arrests kinda got swept under the rug cause "don't we all make mistakes? I have a friend who got in a fight, but he's better now. X was a victim of his environment" etc. Most people never looked into the details, just tuned out the social media criticism as fake because that's what they've been conditioned to believe.

And of course, everyone wants to think he changed before he died. They cite his claim he donated $100k to domestic violence organizations which is not at all verifiable and that he did a charity show, which admittedly DID end up happening, but after his death.

To be honest, I can't even remember his whole criminal history. There are phone calls from all sorts of different arrests on youtube that I can't even link up to any specific incident on his wikipedia page. And it seems like most people who support his music (many of whom intentionally don't look into it because they're afraid of what they might find) don't have a clear timeline either, and plead ignorance.

Also the line most people who have worked with X before and faced criticism haved used is "I can like someone as a person, and work with them, and disagree with what they actions at the same time." which is a bullshit excuse, but will unfortunately probably be exactly what blink say upon being busted for their involvement with this project.

I listened to Nine knowing Travis had worked with Xxx from people in the Blink thread.

trying to convince yourself blink had no idea about X’s past is pretty naive.

It’s most absurd that someone like me who literally and genuinely had no idea who the hell he was still knows about his past. I’ve now read stories, seen photos, and felt extremely frustration by it.

So someone is gonna tell me people who literally knew who he was have no god damn clue? Yeah right. Fuck off with that. If I know about it they would know about it. It wasn’t 3 random tweets. There was significant coverage on this which Mark, Travis, and Matt could not have missed.

It's not about whether they could have missed it or not. Zane Lowe literally asked then in an interview about it. Travis gave some non-answer about it, but Mark and Matt were present. They literally knew about it. I don't know how hard that is to understand. It's not like it was via social media that it came out and maybe they don't run their own channels or whatever. They were literally told to their faces.

Is this directed at me? Because I wasn't trying to say they didn't know anything about it. I was detailing how this particular scene has covered up and/or excused his actions beyond what the average person would know, so it's not inconcievable they bought into some of that bullshit too.

I think it was directed at the ones saying “this could be a learning experience” for the band, why should there be a learning experience at all for this scenario as the band fully knew who they were working with and how problematic that artist is.

Nope not at you or really anyone here directly and personally, just me throwing frustration against a wall against the narrative (which is def out there) of people giving them any benefit of the doubt of not knowing.

    Assume It's A Bit

There is not a chance in hell Blink (or at the VERY least Travis, but to insinuate that only he knew and the others didn't is naive at best) didn't know about what X had done, and they still did. I'm not gonna stop listening to Blink over it, but to try and posit that they didn't know about him is ridiculous.

    TW/CW: abuse, domestic violence

"Later that day, XXXTentacion left the room and returned with two grilling implements—a “barbecue pitchfork” and a “barbecue cleaner,” she said—and told her to pick between them, because he was going to put one of them in her vagina. She chose the fork. He told her to undress. He was lightly dragging the tool against her inner thigh when she passed out. He did not penetrate her with it."

"He then started elbowing, head-butting, and punching her. He strangled her until she almost passed out. He took her to the bathroom and demanded one last time that she tell him everything or he would kill her in the bathtub. She couldn’t even recognize her face in the mirror—it looked “distorted”—and her left eye was completely shut and “leaking blood.” She was losing vision. She vomited."

I don't understand how people could read that, not get nauseous, and then continue to defend him. Fucking disgusting. That's not even the tip of the iceberg, either.

But rip jah and bad vibes forever I guess

what baffles me more than someone not agreeing with Mark’s contradictory quote is how absolutely defensive people get about accountability being taken.
