You certainly could, Black Rain is a contender for my favorite and I love Hated You too. It's just the flow starting with Pin through the end is pretty perfect for me. Rain and Hated just stand out more in the tracklist if that makes sense, very different for blink songs.

    AT. ALL.

I didn’t even like it when it originally came out, let alone like 10+ years later or whatever.

The man had such an incredible ear and knowledge of equipment. One of the first things that comes to mind for me are the guitar tones on AFI's Sing The Sorrow.

Start The Machine and The War are the only ones I still even personally qualify as listenable and I don't remember the last time I listened to those haha.

Definitely one of the worst aging albums I own

I like the BCR album but only like 4-5 songs are really great, the rest is solid to forgettable, and a whole album of Tom-led vocals doesn’t hold up as well to me nowadays so I take TOYPAJ every day. The BCR album is as much a great Travis/Jerry Finn showcase as it is a Tom showcase. I also genuinely love Cheshire and think Cheshire/Dude Ranch is a hell of a strong start for a band.

I rarely revisit the BCR album (think All Systems Go, There Is, and Watch the World are in some playlists), but that album came out right as 8th grade was wrapping up and we were all headed to high school. I played that album to death in the last few days of school. I remember playing it at our 8th grade picnic, during car rides down the shore. That was the album of that summer for me.

So yeah, it isn’t a great album in hindsight, but it always takes me back to that transition to HS, 8th grade crushes, all that stupid shit.

I don’t get what aged badly in BCR. It’s an angsty rock record. It might not be amazing or anything but I don’t get the hate.

I always thought TOYPAJ was extremely average. It’s such an uninteresting record. And I can’t get over they writing lyrics about high school at that age.

My First Punk song is intentionally in its silliness and while I think it’s a bad song the difference is that on TOYPAJ they were serious with stuff like Story of a Lonely Guy.

Nine is a better record that those at least.

575 for me - that includes pure spotify crobbles. And I don't count singles scrobbling prior to the album release.

I think it’s pretty cool to hear the genesis of an album in previous work. If you didn’t have a BCR, you may not have an untitled. If you didn’t have a +44 or Alk3 Crimson, you may not have had a Nine.

On side projects artists can do the process a little different, or incorporate new sounds or work with new people. Jimmy Eat World just released a new song with horns, but if track back a few years ago when Jim Adkins did his solo songs, he used horns. Brian Fallon and Ian Perkins Horrible Crowes Record influenced some songs in the Get Hurt era.

BCR is a constant in my top 3 albums of all time. The production and guitar riffs are top-notch, and it just might have my favorite drum-work from Travis. For example, the cymbal work coupled with the simple guitar part on the bridge of Watch the World = perfection. To me that album is a carefully crafted masterpiece.

Long time listener, first time caller. I know people were mostly not criticizing the band for using songwriters, just discussing it yesterday. But for the people who do criticize them for that, I don’t know how you can hear the original lyrics to Asthenia and believe that Tom wrote the lyrics to the album version all by himself. (Not Now, too) Also clear from this video, working with a producer was the only thing keeping him from singing 16, 17, or any other ages.

Uhhh, those were literally placeholder lyrics until he came up with something better. Lots of artists do that and usually just hum the melody in gibberish until they write the lyrics. You can hear Tom trail off and sing "This wasn't a...somthing!" because the lyrics weren't done yet. Seems pretty clear to me he came up with better lines eventually that turned into the album version. I do like this demo version though haha.

Still really pleased with how damn good NINE ended up being. Still the first album I want to listen to each day.

Haha. Man, I would hate for people to hear every "riff" I've thrown away over the years if they were going to decide, "Well, I've heard those... There's no WAY you could write something good!"

    This still brings me so
Same. It brings me so much extra joy because I really thought the bands best days were behind them, and then they come swinging with such a strong album it’s a contender for my 2nd favorite from them.
