I thought it was record shelf wear at first but good to know it’s just a texture. Looks great!

It still throws me off when I hear like, Yellowcard or Sugarcult in a grocery store.

Grocery Outlet baby. Cheep alcohol and they sell boxes of cliff bars, Turkey, and Spindrift super cheap.

Does anyone know why Carousel didn’t make it onto Flyswatter?

I have heard both Mark and Tom say that Carousel is the first song they wrote together, so I have always wondered why they didn’t include it on their first demo/recording.

Probably didn’t have the lyrics written at the time of them demoing Flyswatter. Being written could have just meant they had the instrumental parts but not the lyrics.

I thought Tom said in some recent interview that he met Mark for the first time and they jammed, and that was “the first song we wrote....well, first song we WORKED on together.”

It sounded like he was referring to “Carousel” and phrasing it as if it was a song they started but didn’t finish until later (which makes sense why they still consider it their first song). Just my interpretation though, I could be mistaken.

Or it just sounds better to say Carousel was their first song instead of Red Skies haha.

    Better than you, sorry

I'm pretty sure within the last 10 years they played nearly the full intro of Carousel. You know, the one with the palm muting in the beginning. I'm sure I saw it on youtube but havent been able to find it again. Could I have dreamt it??

    edit:
    found it

For a song so early in their career, Carousel is very impressive musically and lyrically.

Tom is very dismissive of pre-Dammit Blink 182 but Carousel is a great punk-rock song.

Also, I read the other day that Travis has no songwriting credits on Enema of the State. He pushed to get credit on TOYPAJ but he has none on Enema.

Man, what a bummer that must be. I would have huge grudge against Tom and Mark since Travis definitely elevated that record and gets nothing from their best selling record and singles (or if he gets something is much less than Tom/Mark). He was present when they wrote those songs too in the pre-recording sessions and yet he was still just a "touring" member according to what I read. Maybe the situation is better than I'm aware but seems like a bummer.

Song writing credit was much different back then that’s why Jerry Finn doesn’t have any writing credits for any of blink’s songs.

I'm looking at the ASCAP listings for the Enema songs now and Mark, Tom and Travis are all listed as songwriters each with 33.33% copyright shares.

And thus why we have to constantly hear complaining about co writers now
