I’ve always felt pop punk bands like Blink don’t need to be as raw or gritty, and I don’t need my bands like Social Distortion to be be glossy and finished.

I’m glad Blink hasn’t drifted into the unrecognizable like some pop punk bands.

 

TOYPAJ is one of the cleanest, glossiest albums I’ve heard in this scene and that’s part of the appeal

 

Heaven and Blame it On My Youth are my least favorite on the album at the moment....maybe that'll change.

You inspired me. I didn’t get another vinyl, but i got the rabbit and skull enamel pins. I wish they’d sell a book of stickers though.

I saw AVA tonight and I think it's the best Tom has ever sounded live. Was thoroughly impressed which I never saw coming

 

I do like how Mark sings the "Angel Wings at a bus stop" line.

 

agreed that switching "Happy Days" and "Darkside" is the way to go

 

But then you’d be screw up the obvious concept of the album. You’d be like “I’m going to the dark side” one minute and then “heaven doesn’t want me” right after that. Of course heaven doesn’t want someone who has gone to the dark side!

Works much better when he finds out heaven doesn’t want him, so he goes to the dark side with someone and it’s all because of his upbringing (can you believe this generation?). He was a runaway due to tragedy (his house was flooded by rain at night) and always wished he could hate god but couldn’t. He joined the military (to try to protest from the inside), but felt like they ended up holding him for ransom. When he got out he cried. Then he found someone to connect with, lost them and became a drunk. He told him or her to forget him and was left in the dark side all alone.

EDIT: I remember on his TV Show he told a fan who called in and asked about this bass that he would send it to them. Guess that never happened lol.

 

Yea what’s up with that? Shouldn’t auto-tune make your voice less flat?

 

I’d imagine singing in a band doesn’t do your voice any favours as one gets older.

 

Have we talked about how that clip Feldmann posted a while back isn’t on this record?

Lil Wayne not playing tonight

 

as someone mentioned on the reddit, some listings of the Japanese version say the album length is over 44 minutes long. still no song title but i think it gives further credence to there being a bonus track. so theres still possibility of that (and whatever Nine Encores is) to look forward to next week!

 

Hey! I haven't been following the discussion about NINE here, because I work and the conversation was going so fast (what is great because new album is fantastic).

I just wanted to say that I LOVE NINE. Still need some time to digest it but it could easily be on my Top3 blink albuns rn. My favorite songs are 1. No Heart To Speak Of 2. Heaven 3. On Some Emo Shit. Tell me you guys Top3 songs!

This is so much better as a whole. I only listened to the singles once or twice, or not at all and they did nothing for me, but i can see myself spinning this a fuck ton this week

 

Neighborhoods leaked on this day 8 years ago as I’m driving around Vermont listening to this new leaked album.

 

Girlfriend ended up having plans so we bailed on the show tonight. Extra glad now considering Wayne was the whole reason she wanted to go lol

It’s a bummer to see him miss so many dates but at least blink has managed (almost) the whole thing.

 

Gonna blast the album on my 45 minute drive to band practice here in a minute. So excited to give it the car test for the first time!
