Not gonna lie, i'm in the same camp. It's a great song, and it gives me the feeling like I'm walking out into a sun-storm (you know, raining when it's sunny out? Whatever that term is?) but it's lower tier.

That tier is still incredible, though.

Someone already mentioned The Menzingers today, but yeah “On Some Emo Shit” is like if The Menzingers, MCS, and Get Up Kids made a song together

So after listening to NINE all day yesterday here are my thoughts. The whole album is fantastic and IMO there is not really any bad tracks. Happy Days for me is the “weakest” track and even then I really enjoy it. It has a great flow and the only tweak I would make in terms of song sequence is switching Happy Days and Darkside. Each track shines in its own way and when Mark or Matt said that each song is different, they really meant it. I love things about every track and they don’t have the repetition we saw in California. The contrast of Mark and Matt on this album reminds me a lot more of the Mark and Tom contrast we had in previous albums and I really enjoy them sharing songs more because of that.

Boy thank god blink said let's ditch these California pt 2 songs and try again.

It'll always be a big summer album for me and I love the best songs on it but this is what these guys are capable of, be a shame if we didn't get this.

Still digesting this album, but i already know its at least a step above california. Back half is better than the singles.

Though, i cant help but feel this shiny perfect pop production has been their biggest misstep in recent years. A raw blink is a better blink. I think everyone here would agree. Dont @ me.

Me too! The intro to On Some Emo Shit feels like it’s going to lead into the second verse of Baby Come On

I think the production on this is wonderful as is. Feldy did a fantastic job.

Same, it sounds huge when it needs to but still dynamic enough to do some justice for the textures of these songs. More lively than Neighborhoods but less brick walled than Cali.

I dream of those Yeah Yeahs being removed from First Time.

Yeah, I’m with you here. The production is too glossy. It doesn’t ruin the songs but it’s a turnoff. My brother who hasn’t really listened to blink since Untitled was like ”why does everything sound so fixed? And Mark voice sound way too flat”.

Anyway, I like the album and can’t stop listening to it. But can’t help wishing that it was just a little bit rawer.

The "yeah, yeah"s are one of the best parts of The First Time, #sorrynotsorry

  14. Yep. The production is perfect here. A “raw“ sounding Blink hasn’t existed since Cheshire Cat, and would sound really weird in 2019.

I dig most of the production choices. The last chorus in Black Rain when the guitar kicks in? Fuckin huge!

The guitar tones also do not suck lol.

I'd love to see how Travis recorded drums and mixed in those electronic hi-hat ticks. They did such a great job mixing the two together. Travis really made it his own too.

I'll also add that the drums in the intro to Pin The Grenade are so snappy that it reminded me of some of Travis' work in Box Car Racer

Emo Shit is so well done, it's pretty awesome they banged that one out on their own. The last 3 songs just end this album so amazingly.

According to imdb he wrote two other songs. I guess I was wrong as I thought he wrote almost all of The Wonders songs for whatever reason.

Lame. I didn’t get a chance to listen to it to see if I was any good either. I’m hoping they have one from Riot Fest tonight.

I have no pulse on what could be a hit, but in my perfect world Hungover You would blow up for them. What a rad song that feels so fresh for them and they nail it
