damn, it's gone before i was able to rip it!

 

Every new one I'm waiting to be like "ok well this one wasn't that good" and that feeling never comes. Like holy crap at the step they made working together. And whoever else is credited, you clearly feel the peaks of each guy's past work in this.

Run Away is easily the weakest of the new stuff and it's great. They absolutely nailed the sequencing for me too. I like Happy Days after First Time. The lighter stuff is at the start and then it's like "ok let's get emotional" haha. Man

 

How....DARE YOU! (*pretends not to read the rest of the sentence)

That song is in my top 3. or 5. or 15. I can't decide.

 

Haha I love it though! Something had to be last. As someone said the intro is such an untitled vibe and Mark's chorus melodies are one of my favorite things on the album.

 

Neighorhoods and California both had clunkers so it's really awesome that there isn't a BAD song on this album...just lesser great ones.

 

And Matt's Heavens voice on the No Heart verse tho. Love

 

Heaven is in my bottom of the album list. If I had a list. The chorus does nothing for me.

 

The chorus is Mark's best +44 chorus since +44.

 

I'm still trying to really get into "The First Time." For some reason that song doesn't stick out to me as much as almost every other song on Nine. Not sure why that is because it's obviously a jam.

 

Bullshit. Pin the Grenade would like a word with you.

 

Haha no I agree, something's gotta be last...which is a testament to the overall quality here. For example, Black Rain is on everyone's top 5 list, but that song is toward the bottom for me. Yet every time it comes on I still think "Fuck yeah. This is awesome."

And I don't care what anyone says. I still belt out the chorus of BIOMY every time it comes on also. Still love that one.

 

Naahhhhhhh... The "Pin The Grenade" chorus sounds like classic Blink. The chorus on "Heaven" totally has the mood of the +44 album.

 

I love the chorus and how it changes both times. The chorus reminds me a lot of TOYPAJ

 

seeing them in a few hours and i hope they play some of the new hotness

 

In no real order, I’m just gonna group the songs in either “digging”, “fine”, “whatever”

Digging: Happy Days, Darkside, Black Rain, IRWIHY, Pin the Grenade, No Heart To Speak Of, Ransom, On Some Emo Shit, Hungover You, Remember to Forget Me


Fine:The First Time, Generational Divide, Run Away

Whatever: Heaven, Blame it On My Youth

So yea, I am also in the camp that the back half is way stronger

 

Still amazing how Mark's part of the chorus is mostly just TWO notes yet it's still sooo interesting. He only adds two more notes with the last "my faaace" end part.

The chorus lyrics fall flat to me. I can’t really explain it, but they bore me.

 

i group that song in with BIOMY as a relatively upbeat bop thats on an otherwise pretty bleak/moodier record, so it kinda stands out in that regard. one of my favorites on the album though but i can see it sticking out a bit along with BIOMY

 

Btw, Darkside was a blast live.
