    As for the single choices:

My two and a half you old sings along to the chorus of “Blame it, Blame it on my youth”, so that song was obviously about writing something really catchy. It’s actually lyrically targeted towards an older listener, but musically skewed to a more current audience.

Generational Divide is definitely targeted to an older, and more punk audience. From the art work, song length, Skiba vocals, video, and so on. It’s part of who’s these guys were in their youth.

Happy Days was more “hey, it’s that Blink you know and remember”. I feel like that song could have appeared on a few different Blink albums.

Darkside is really about defining Matt, his role in the band, and by making a fun video and having Mark vocals it pulls it into Blink territory and not Trio territory.

I Really Wish I Hated You does seem to have as much of an objective as the first few songs released.

Agreed with all of that, particularly about "Happy Days". It actually reminded me more of Neighborhoods than anything when it came out, for whatever reason. There are pieces of this album that make me think how awesome that album could have been with a little more cohesion and a producer, especially coming off the +44 album.

I don't think the singles exactly represent the "tone" of a lot of the rest of the album, but I will say they do represent how hook-driven everything is. There's not a song on here (save for "GD") that doesn't have an insanely catchy chorus.

Side note - right now it's hard to keep the pre-release songs in the same area of my brain as the rest of the album. I keep thinking of those five as a separate EP or something, so the rest of it feels very cohesive and then those five take me out of it a bit.

I definitely feel the +44 vibes. Even though I had this on repeat all day yesterday, I woke up today with "I think we're running out of alcohol, tonight I hate this fucking town" stuck in my head.

Plus they still have more music to come too with an EP. I’m guessing that’ll be the really different sounding stuff.

In my opinion the best songs on the album are the ones they haven't released yet.

As far as the songs released go I would probably rank Happy Days and IRWIHY as two of the weaker songs on the album, Blame It On My Youth in the middle and Darkside towards the top.

I like Heaven a lot, but I think what prevents it from being one of my favorites is that it comes right after Happy Days and it sound very similar to that song to me.

Yeah, i thought the same on first listen. I ended up changing the track listing on a playlist and it stands out a lot more to me. Def one of my favorites on the album. I wonder what Jason has to say about the sequencing of the album.

I also want to note that the closer is perfect.

  12. I bought the splatter vinyl the second they went on sale, and I too will be buying the CD at the store because I also very much love that feeling still.

I fully expected not to like this after hearing the songs that were released but I gotta say, this is pretty great.

I'm not totally familiar with the track list yet, but I will say that I don't immediately recognize which song is which because so many of them start off with a drum beat and maybe some little melody/riff that's not all that unique to each song.

So out of "Heaven", "Run Away", "Pin the Grenade", "No Heart to Speak Of", "Ransom", and "Hungover You", it's still a toss up for me which song it's going to be until a more distinguishable part kicks in.

Disclaimer: the leak I got wasn't in the correct sequencing, so I'm still getting used to the correct order.

No Heart to Speak Of is an early favorite. Love all these huge choruses.

I enjoyed this more than I thought I would because truly, I didn't like the singles at all. First time in this band's history that I didn't like at least the lead single and I was hoping to like BIOMY (and Happy Days) more in context - but no such luck haha.
Early favorites are The First Time, Heaven, Remember to Forget Me, and On Some Emo Shit.

    Ronstile.

Finished my initial play throughs. Going to hold off until the official release and see how the album hits me with some time away.

I'll be at TwitchCon for work. I’m really hoping Blink does a regular set list instead of the enema play through. I’d love to hear as many new songs from Nine as they were doing from California in the last album cycle.

I’ll be so bummed if Pin the Grenade gets the same snub Left Alone got live.

Photo from the California artist I spotted in Miami recently.

I feel like this album is better than California but ultimately I found the front half of this album more enjoyable than the back half. I’m glad the lyrics are more mature and introspective cause that was the most disappointing and polarizing part of California for me

I hope everyone who is a bigger Blink fan than I love this as there’s some very enjoyable songs here but ultimately just not an album that resonates with me.

I’ll go back to it for sure but not sure how many full album listens it will get out of me..similar to California.

The first time I listened to "Run Away" I legit thought it was an interlude for the first 10 seconds

It reminds me of Baby Come On from the +44 album. It's my favorite song on the album so far.
