It's worth noting Matt has no more cred than "Steve from Mobile" considering that neither one was involved in creating the album that's being performed. Live music is oftentimes about the fun of the experience, so weird, fun, spontaneity is much more appealing to me than the band going through the motions of running through the same 12 songs as they were performed on the recording.

 

If someone replaced Hoppus or Barker, what would you say then?

 

It could have sounded worse in person or through the in-ears and made it hard for Matt to sing along with. I don’t know why they even attempt that when they know the fans probably can’t hear well enough to keep time.

They tried that one time with Dumpweed where Mark and Travis left the stage and two kids started playing but it was off-time (because neither one could hear) that Matt just gave up. Haha. Might have been scared of doing that again so he intervened.

 

A sketch character in Tim Robinson’s show, I Think You Should Leave, mentions that he’s wearing an Angels & Archways belt which I feel has to be a reference to AVA.

I mean if it was just dicking around on Mark's bass for a song I wouldn't mind much, but yeah, I get how it'd be annoying if it was a big instrumentally-driven or drum-intense song.

 

First post in awhile, but man oh man I love that 15 second clip. Can't wait to hear how the full song sounds.

I have never heard of this one. Only 59 minutes from me. I might add it to my list to check out!

My favorite is the Haunted Ghost Ship Harbor in Quincy. This will be it’s 4th year open (it it opens). Year 1 sucked. Year 2 was GREAT. Year 3 they had a fire on the boat and never reopened. So I hope it’s back this year!

 

Well considering Matt is a member of the band and not some hired gun I think he had every right to do what he did. So yeah, he has plenty of " cred ".

Oh yeah, I'm not arguing that, I'm just saying-- if you're going to see a "band play their iconic album" you really wouldn't get that full experience anyways, regardless of whether or not they brought a fan on stage. I personally don't care who's play ATST or Mutt or whatever cause it's not the original performer anyways.

 

I will pay for your ticket if it doesn’t blow your mind.

 

Honestly the reason I'm not bothered by it is because it was only ATST, if they let this dude play Adams song or something it'd be different.

Don’t think it was a weird move at all. Can’t see Matt doing that if it sounded great through his in ears if he decided to intervene the way he did, and as ATST is one of their staple songs that a large majority of the audience usually can’t wait to sing along to, I don’t blame him for not wanting to give the fans a poor experience.

Remember, just because something sounds okay through a shitty cell phone video does not mean it sounded very good in the moment.

 

Y’all high as fuck if you don’t think fall is the greatest season. Summer can get in the bin solely on the heat alone.

 

This trend of letting audience members play on stage with bands needs to die.

 

I was shocked it was during the show for All The Small Things. I figured it was sound check before I watched the video

Blink being the least spontaneous band ever especially needs to not do this really

 

Honestly, fans on stage for any reason needs to not be a thing. Proposals, guitar playing, stage diving, etc...

Never not awkward. No one knows what they’re doing.

 

The next time someone complains about this thread talking about Tom too much/ranking anything/set lists/blaming Feldy/etc just remember we can be talking about the band bringing fans up on stage to play songs instead.
