blink shouldn’t be in the same conversation as Jesse Lacey. Their humor back then was low brow and dumb but they were just trying to have a good time. I was 14 when Enema came out and blink was (and still is) my favorite band of all time. I certainly roll my eyes at some of the fart-pee jokes, even when they’d call each other “gay”, but I (and many others my age) did the same thing. We were dumb and the early 2000’s were a different time (notice how many movies use the “f” word like it’s nothing). Blink weren’t trying to be gross awful people, just wanted to have a good time and make people laugh. I’m sure now, in hindsight, they look back (as do I) and regret much but know their true fan base understands they never EVER meant to hurt. It’s blink-182 for Christ’s sake haha. There’s bigger problems in the music world to complain about, like the Jesse Lacey’s.

I'm not comparing the two in terms of what they've done. I'm using it as an example of the fact that just because someone suffers a bad thing, doesn't mean they're exempt from criticism. I admit I could've found a better example but it was the quickest one I could come up with.

Well, they often have crude humour or language. Do they abide by a different set of rules?

Blink 182 albums had warning stickers on their records. They had an album called Enema of the State with a porn actress on it and another called Take Off Your Pants and Jacket. If you bought that, you participated in that having some sort of idea what you were purchasing.

For sure I did. And when I did, I was 12. I'm 26 now and able to see what was shitty about them. Are you familiar with the idea of changing as you gtow up, or has that escaped you?

Farts still make people laugh from 1 year olds to 90+ year olds. And, I don’t hold current and past members old Blink 182 to a higher standard than government elected officials. Their music and appeal was to the same people who watched American Pie (hence the cameo). No one is telling Ryan Reynolds to grow up and stop making Deadpool. Instead it makes millions of dollars. Do you not think for a moment that the same audience who listening to Blink.

    “But everybody's gone
And I've been here for too long
To face this on my own, well I guess this is growing up
Well I guess this is growing up”

Dude, I wanted to answer seriously but you quoting a lyric from a Blink song is just pure unadulterated cringe. Enjoy your Blink albums if it makes you happy mate, especially in this shit-ass world.

It’s a conversation about Blink 182. I do enjoy their albums, hence we looking at the thread in this topic. The website Jason started years ago was a Blink 182/MXPX kind of fan site if I remember correctly. I’m good with them. I listen to enough serious music, that sometimes something lighter like Blink 182 and a New Found Glory are ok by me.

Jason, when I click the headline on the news page, it just opens up page 2 of Chorus. Is there something wrong with the link?

  12. Yep. My fault. Fixing.
