Hell yeah, fun track. Immediately made me think of Touch Me Bad. And that horn part after the final chorus sounds so much like I’m Yours by Jason Mraz it has to be intentional, right?
On paper this band is everything I should like, but I haven’t really loved a Bleachers song since Gone Now.
It's Bleachers, it's always been Bleachers It's Jack Antonoff, it's always been Jack Antonoff It's Jack Antonoff and Bleachers and it always has been and always will be
Got it, was just curious if he was pivoting to a Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band or Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers type of thing.
I think it’s cause it just sounds like several other songs thrown together. He’s influences are showing too much I think? I don’t know.
It really feels like him cashing in a blank check so they can cosplay as Bruce and the E Street band. So I guess it depends how willing you are to indulge that.
All the above is true but like 90% of this band’s songs just put a huge smile on my face and this one’s no exception. As far as first singles go it’s about a million times better of a song than Chinatown so it has that going for it too.
I don’t mind the borrowing from Bruce here. Jack has tons of other projects/credits to his name that sound nothing like Bruce.
