It's just a messy album and production is the main culprit. You should never have to adjust the volume in the middle of an album. There's some amazing songs that are bogged down by Jack doing weird shit, most of the album is better live
The songs/songwriting is as good as anything Bleachers has done, the album is not fun to listen to. Like, I can throw on the first two albums with friends on a road trip and sing along and have a good time. Can’t have that experience with Take the Sadness.
45 came up on shuffle today and like I really love the melody of that song but I just wish it had the full Bleachers treatment instead of the odd acoustic treatment it currently has. No idea why he redid Behavior either.
The production is admittedly a step down from the previous albums, but it’s still good. It’s got plenty of top tier songs. All of which go off live too.
i love how 45 sounds. i think a lot of people here hated the really reverb/echoed out thing that's especially there on don't go dark, but i think it's mostly cool. big life is the only one where i really feel like the sound of the production choices and mix bring the song down on an individual level. and the last two songs are mediocre as hell
Big update from jack on Instagram, sounds like the album is almost done. Clip of a studio(?) Margo that sounds amazing but also like a demo/kind of distant like take the sadness in the last slide
“Clip of a studio(?) Margo that sounds amazing but also like a demo/kind of distant like take the sadness in the last slide” here comes trouble
The clip of Margo sounds nothing like the live version that was played March 2022 in Boston, which was closer to Dance Rascal Dance. I wonder if this clip is an intro to the song (or even a recall part like he’s done on previous albums)
He was also super nice to me and my friends when Steel Train opened for Jacks Mannequin over a decade ago. We barely knew who he was and he chatted with us for a good 10 min.
Full live album Friday, that’s cool. But I am worried we’re running out of time for a 2023 B4 announcement.
