I honestly don't care if other people don't like things that I like. I don't let that affect my opinions at all. Guiltless pleasures all the way, babyyyyy! My top 5 off FOAM: Father of All... Fire Ready Aim Meet Me on the Roof Stab You in the Heart Sugar Youth
Lol it sounded harsher then I meant. I more so meant - I'm re-listening to it now. What should I pay extra attention to lol
You don't need to pay extra attention to anything haha. It's not high level art. I hear it as an early 60s pop/rock album (but with a punk rock twist), which is a style of music I grew up on and that I have always loved, so to me it's fun and nostalgic. But maybe that's just me. Oh wait, yup it is, haha.
I liked the last album and the production didn't bother me. I'm a sucker for that kind of sloppy production though (I'm a guy who actively likes the Suburbia I've Given You All.. production).
They are, sorry! Muddy guitars, a fair amount of reverb/ echo and vocals low in the mix. They both have a tinny sound too.
Honestly half the songs on TTSOOSN would still be underwhelming even with better production. But the other half could be easily some of his best work to date.
Best song on TTSOOSN has gotta be "Don't Go Dark" for me. I do like "Chinatown" a lot though. "How Dare You Want More" and "45" are the only other two I can remember off the top of my head, the rest of it doesn't stand out I've always wondered if that album was a rush job, like Jack fell to far behind working on all the other stuff he was doing, rather than a genuine conscious choice to make it sound "raw" or whatever.
This is mostly my view (I've got it at 6 great 4 bad). But in general those 5 or 6 great ones overcome the production as is for me and that's prob why I'm higher on the album than most.
Production is whack but I like the first 8 tracks. The last song is so quiet and such a nothing song that I often forget it’s on when I play the album
Yeah the first 8 range from "amazing but sounds like shit" to "not bad" but the Strange Behavior version and the closing track are both very bad
I was so excited when I saw Strange Behavior on the track list and thought he must have a good take on it or some reason to revisit it and then his take turned out to be “what if it was bland and barely audible?”
The guitar squeaks haunt me. 91, How Dare, Stop Making This Hurt, Don’t Go Dark, and 45 are absolutely incredible. The rest do nothing for me at all.
Managed to get tickets last week for a 1500 capacity venue in Manchester. Was shocked they are playing such a small venue but very excited for it.
