Strange Desire originally released here in the US on my 20th birthday. remember picking it up from Best Buy after work to celebrate. i'm turning 30 on Monday. time flies. excited for this, whatever it is.
Would love a deluxe version…there’s a bunch of official extra material out there for that record…six demos, a few live tracks on the UK import, remixes…and Jack likely has a bunch more unreleased.
Will listen, but pretty uninterested in hearing these songs with the cinematic production stripped away!
The band is just so good right now that I'm pretty excited to hear this. Even if Strange Desire has probably my favorite sound of any of the four albums. And who knows maybe it opens the door to a rerecorded TTSOOSN someday!
intrigued to hear it, but i'm not sure if this first album with 2024 production is gonna resonate with me, especially if it's the same, somewhat-aimless and hollow sound that the band's current work gravitates towards.
i think the production on the new album is slick af and if it falls short it's because there aren't 13 or however many actual great songs - I think it'd be impossible to do Strange Desire justice with a relatively sleepy sound, but I wouldn't hate if some of the production style of this one was attempted on what's basically a no skip record
I will listen, but I can't say I am excited. I am expecting basically a whole album's worth of "Strange Behavior" and "The Big Bad Turnpike Ghost" style re-dos.... but we'll see
as bored as i've been with the past couple albums, i'm sure i'd love the songs more with Terrible Thrills Vols. 4 and 5.
Hopefully he doesn’t suck all the life out of it like he’s done with the couple steel train songs he remade
He posted a clip on Instagram, sounds much better than the steel train remakes, but it's exactly what we expected vibe wise
yeah, after that clip, i think i might honestly sit this one out. there was something so fun and honest about the original album, and there's no need to take something that was clearly a product of it's artist's life at that point in time and give it a duller coat of paint. the "Jack Antonoff's sound is getting stale and he refuses to change it" criticisms might have some weight here if it's literally Stranger Desire with a self-titled sonic template.
