He may could claim an homage to “The Stranger” art like Jack has, but besides the font, it evokes Strange Desire more to me.
Oh true I honestly missed how similar Strange Desire was to the Stranger. Jack's on record saying that was the intent? I love that cus that's one of the best albums of all time in my humble opinion. But it's the color scheme that makes this feel a lot more like Strange Desire.
I appear to have misremembered the quote. Here’s what he says when he was asked about the similarity to The Stranger: “Unintentionally, though The Stranger is one of my favorite albums of all time, so maybe subconsciously!“ Puth could still possibly claim homage, because again, the font is similar to The Stranger, but it does look more like Strange Desire.
That's interesting to me. Is there a time that has to pass before you can claim something was done as homage? Could Puth claim it was done in homage to Strange Desire? Does he even know what Bleachers is? Ah, to questions the universe.
Seeing them headline in Providence RI next Saturday. I didn't realize it will be the four year anniversary of my dad's passing that night... I'm going to be an absolute wreck during Like a River Runs. But man will singing along to Everybody Lost Somebody be cathartic.
Just saw them in Portland last night for the first time. Apparently the sax/synth player is from here so that was pretty dope. He KILLED it. A lot of songs are absolute bangers live that I didn’t expect.
Just saw them in Maine on Friday and he was underwhelming. Which is a huge bummer because the other 3 times I've seen him he's been amazing. He just seemed comparatively out of it
This actually might be the first negative review I’ve ever heard or read about a Bleachers show. How so?
He forgot a whole verse. He missed some lyrics because he was away from the mic. His stage moves, even for him, were twitchy and sometimes distracted. A bunch of his stage banter was mumbled or said away from the mic to the band. I'm not positive but I think for a whole verse on "Shadow" he may have had his tuning pedal on because his guitar was absent. Don't get me wrong, him at 60% is better than 85% of artists. But he just wasn't up to the insane standards of what I've seen from him before.
