I have some weird luck with Jack Antonoff/bleachers. Was guest-listed for SOTC Won tickets to his radio show with Kesha in December. I literally just won passes to a private acoustic session Friday before the show in Boston. We are destined to be friends, I think.
Might be my favorite album this year. And Everybody Lost Somebody favorite song this year. I don’t know but it has sort of that If I Believe You (1975) goosebumps vibe for me. This album is craazy, and I’m so happy for Jack. New Lorde is incredible too. Haven’t heard the other jack-related projects.
How y'all winning the 104.1 contest? I entered online late last week and nothin. Either of you call in?
I was caller 14 last Saturday. They typically give tickets away every hour on the :20's, or at least on the weekends. Good luck!
The acoustic set was awesome- listening to Jack talk about his passions is really inspiring, as silly as that may sound. It was just Jack and his guitar for the performances- cool to hear songs like that, really stripped down. We also got the chance to meet Jack afterwards which was cool. I thanked him for adding me to the guest list for SOTC for my wedding and he gave me the biggest hug. The actual concert was a damn blast, too.
I have to double down on this. “Everybody Lost Somebody” is truly something else. A song that I think will stick with me forever, and has joined the ranks of one of my favorite songs of all time.
I JUST came back in here to say that. I posted it after the first paragraph or so.... then I kept reading and the article basically bashes both Jack and Bleachers multiple times...
This paragraph is so crazy. I sort of get where the author is coming from, but I think it's a bit irresponsible, and misleading, to insinuate Jack is racist (or somehow a problematic "feminist") for working with white pop stars and dating Lena Dunham. Never mind the fact he's worked with Janelle Monae, Nineteen85, Sounwave, and clearly draws a lot from black artists. Or that he doesn't impose his own artistic will on the women he works with, like the other cited producers do. If Jack said or did something out of line, OK yeah, fair game - but there's no evidence of that, or anywhere in the article.
I really cannot wait to see Bleachers live again. I was at the Terminal 5 show and it was just a complete and total blast! I had only seen them at their very first show, when we didn't know any songs and then the acoustic set at Rough Trade. Being able to experience Gone Now with a full band and a full dance party was just amazing. Come back soon, Jack! I love this album so much still!
Saw them for the first time yesterday and they were great as expected. Jack had total control over the crowd. I had forgotten that they've been doing their American Girl/Carry On mashup and it sounded so damn good.
