I can't stop thinking about how incredible the show I went to was. It's one of the best shows I've been to, and I've been to so many. Jack has so much positive energy on stage, and I feel like he brought the entire room together as one. Anyone who hasn't seen them live has to do anything possible to see them!
Will be seeing them for the third time this year next month in Boston. Excited, but don't think it will top when I saw them in a 500 cap room over the summer.
I'm very fortunate that I got to see him in a small venue as well. It was a rescheduled show. It'll probably be my last opportunity to see him in such a small venue!
The entire crowd was just so into it, more than most shows I've been to. Just dancing and having a good time, and respecting both the band and the rest of the crowd. I enjoyed Shadow of the City, but it was absolutely a different, larger crowd.
The first time I saw them was front row at a 500-cap venue less than a month after Strange Desire came out. It was so awesome, and it's been so cool to see their live show grow into what it is now. It is truly a monster of a show.
Oh, absolutely! I don't mean to sound like I'm mad the shows are getting bigger. Super happy for them! Even saw them open for Billy Joel during the Strange Desire cycle and loved every second of it. It was just a different, weird vibe at SOTC, is all.
That's not what I meant at all! I was just sharing my own small venue brag and then started gushing about the band again. And + it's always better to be in a crowd specifically there to see that band than at larger festivals where there's more passive interest. Super jealous you got to see them with Billy Joel. I saw him that summer and I got so excited that they might be opening my show, but nope just Gavin DeGraw.
I will gush all day long about Bleachers. In fact I'm going to listen to Gone Now after this Alvvays record (it was you yesterday talking about it right?). Thank you for the reminder to check it out, it's fantastic.
Top 10 Bleachers songs(this could change daily though) Hate That You Know Me Don't Take The Money Everybody Lost Somebody Let's Get Married Wild Heart Rollercoaster Shadow Wake Me Like A River Runs You're Still A Mystery
They have too small of a discography for me to make a top 10 haha I've seen them twice in the same 1k cap venue, first time was with Charli XCX
Oof top 10 off the top of my head (no particular order): 1. Wild Heart 2. Rollercoaster 3. I Wanna Get Better 4. Who I Want You To Love 5. I Miss Those Days 6. Everybody Lost Somebody 7. Hate That You Know Me 8. Dream of Mickey Mantle 9. Like A River Runs 10. All My Heroes TBH Shadow is my least favorite song by them probably. I liked it until Strange Desire was released, but then everything else just blew it away for me.
True, but that argument could be made for any of their songs I'd say haha It's also probably just a little fatigue, because when there were only 2 songs out, I only had so much to listen to. IWGB just held up better to the abuse of the replay because it's the Bleachers song.
I understand that. For me I don't even consider it a song in my head really. It's just an extended interlude to me, although I do enjoy it. I think it's kind of cool how it just has that one relatable lyric (who hasn't had something in their life they wished they could just move on from but had difficulty doing?) over Wild Heart. I've always thought it works well in context.
I adore this version of Don't Take the Money so much. All My Heroes sounds pretty good, too. Any version of Everybody Lost Somebody breaks me down in the best way possible so no surprises there.
