I love this record starts and I love how it ends. The first two tracks and the last two tracks are so strong, especially as an opener / closer.
Damn, thanks for the setlist. Traffic from Jersey was horrendous yesterday so I only got to catch IWGB and DTTM. Would've loved to hear "Let's Get Married" & "I Miss Those Days"
The middle of this (the stretch from "Don't Take The Money" to "I Miss Those Days") is up there with the best stretches of an album I've heard this year.
I honestly rarely find reprises necessary on pop albums and this album's is no exception. Especially because "Goodbye" essentially works in that role anyway.
Anybody else have "Woke up/I'm in the inbetween, honey" on a loop stuck in their head since they heard this album?
I don't think I've disliked a single song that Jack has been involved with since Steel Train's Trampoline.
The reprises and call backs are amazing on this album. They are so subtle and work so well. I love the call backs TGG from TWY but these are just weaved in much tighter. My favorite is when he brings back the "I want to be Greatful" sample from the beginning of Strange Desire. The overall theme is an appropriate follow up from Strange Desire. Everybody Lost Somebody is the strongest centerpiece to an album I've ever heard. The whole idea of that before/after a loss or major event is just such a great focal point for an album. Jack killed it with this one.
The second verse on Nothing Is U: I left my house on Friday Sunday, begging please Challenged all my best friends I've challenged them to leave
I was looking through a record bin yesterday and realized this album cover may have been inspiration (the dot is more red in person like the bleachers one)
