I mean, I personally like “Bullet” more than every song on that album other than “Don’t Take the Money,” but I’m just saying, that album ain’t all winners.
They're on the same side of the vinyl but if it went by the streaming order, "i can't believe you're gone tonight" is track 7, which would be on the second side. It pushes "take you out tonight" from 6 to 7.
Ah, I didn't look at what was listed on streaming and thought it was just that two songs were flipped.
Similar to the last one not exactly the album I was hoping for but indeed a pretty good album. Really like dancing and the closer on first listen. Had paused on singles before the van came out and that one’s a lot of fun too.
I like this but right now I don’t think I like it as much as the last one, and maybe even a little less than TTSOOSN as well. Some real highs on here though.
Something about the FUN./Bleachers trajectory fucks with my sense of time. How could FUN. have been almost 15 years ago. Liking this one more than the last. Love the retrospective aspect and the call backs (as always). The Van reminds me of Teenage Rockstars by Andrew McMahon. Would love to be at the indoor Stone Pony show tomorrow. Still haven’t seen Bleachers. Never lines up. Gotta change that.
Will definitely need a few more listens to properly compare it to s/t. Modern Girl and Call Me After Midnight would have fit so well on here, I'll say that. Those two songs aside this is the way more fun counterpart to that album.
Trying to think of what sort of classic rock / folk albums this is reminding me of ; some of the 80’s Fleetwood Mac, Paul Simon ?
I still haven't listened, but I genuinely think all 4 singles are very special songs and have fully converted me to new Bleachers. And dirty wedding dress especially is pretty... maybe not anthemic but definitely huge. Say the mantra I LOVE GOODBYESSS
is there a slight autotune effect or something on the vocals of we should talk? I keep going back to that as my favorite track, however I keep waiting for it to really take off but it just kinda of flows along. think id much prefer this without the effect on the vocals.
Per the e-mail that just came out, kinda cool actually: we wanted to make vinyl variants that honor the studios where the album was written and recorded. we have 2,000 copies each of our two new ‘everyone for ten minutes’ special tape pressings :: electric lady studios (nyc) ran through the pioneer rt-707, & tamarind (jack’s studio in los angeles) ran through the sony tc-200a. we hit the tape pretty hard for both these prints, so the only way you can hear this type of recording is on these vinyl. wanted to do something different for this record that wasn’t just a unique cover but actually re-record the album on tape for you. Tamarind: Bleachers - everyone for ten minutes (exclusive Tamarind tape pressing) Vinyl. Vinyl. Dirty Hit. Electric Lady: Bleachers - everyone for ten minutes (exclusive ELS tape pressing) Vinyl. Dirty Hit.
I don't think the songs themselves are different, but the sonic quality of the recording is, for lack of a better description. Since they were run through specific equipment at each studio...I also wouldn't be surprised if there are actual differences people find but who knows. Perhaps these are slightly earlier versions of the songs, depending on when he finalized these "versions"? But re-reading his description...it's unclear actually haha. I'm intrigued though!
Yeah, it's not clear from the description how these will sound different, but I guess I'll find out when they get here haha
