A bunch of these Weir movies I had never heard of before are just not working for me. (Not a fan of Dead Poets Society either). Obviously Truman Show and Master & Commander are incredible but stuff like The Last Wave and Green Card... doing nothing for me.
Yeah only ones I haven’t watched are cars that ate paris and green card and they’re all well made but don’t really do anything for me. Little parts here and there but yeah overall not a Weir guy I guess. Haven’t seen Truman show in forever and have never seen master and commander.
I'm the opposite, I'd never seen Picnic or Year of Living Dangerously or Mosquito Coast and Witness and have really enjoyed them all
I watched Mosquito Coast last year and it kinda rules. At least it's pretty interesting as a cultural artifact to see Ford in that role along with Phoenix. But most of his stuff I am not too interested in.
Rewatched the Truman show for the first time since high school or college and yeah that’s undeniable.
Truman Show is maybe my favorite movie ever but I hadn’t seen any other Weirs outside of DPS. LOVED Mosquito Coast and Hanging Rock. Fearless and Witness and Cars I liked. Indifferent to everything else so far.
In the Carrey canon, it’s still Eternal Sunshine over Truman for me, but both are pretty much five-star masterpieces.

I forgot Stanton had a live-action movie released this year. Talk about something that does not exist.
Only need to watch John Carter and the new one to be caught up on Stanton, so that's nice. I planned to watch most of the Weirs then got busy and just did Witness.
Honestly, i've checked out of Critical Darlings. The Big Picture is good enough for my weekly new releases pod.
Big pic is great when they are doing drafts and hall of fame episodes. Their new release movie coverage isn’t great, I agree about that. Think it’s just tough to do that and maintain interest during this time of year when a lot of the weekly releases aren’t good.

Fantastic episode. What a movie. The Mando ep with Gethard has the potential to be the most annoying episode.
