I actually got into the show in 2016 (damn really has been a decade of dreams for me) and felt very seen listening to the Speed Racer episode during the initial Wachowskis series. Had not heard a passionate defense of that movie yet (now it’s growing widely more accepted but then not so much)
Watched the first five minutes of ratcatcher and absolutely fucking not liked Kevin and die my love so I’ll continue with the mini but come on
I think the only way they could possibly have fucked up that badly is because they saw the movie when they were 13 and didn’t quite register what was happening and ever since then that was their take, and maybe this rewatch wasn’t the most attentive. It’s actually insane they could misinterpret that
I also don’t think the ending is anywhere near as ambiguous as they were framing it to be. A pretty straightforward downer ending!
And them saying the movie wasn’t really about the kid that died at the beginning. The main kid was clearly dealing with that the entire film!
With all that’s going on, I just don’t feel the urge to wallow deeper in misery. Griffin is on this week’s Scott Hasn’t Seen talking Night at the Roxbury for 2 1/2 hours. Feel like that fills the hole.
I might listen to the eps for the movies I’ve seen but don’t think I’m gonna watch/listen to the ones I haven’t.
I need to give this another shot. David drove me crazy on the E.T. episode to the point where I had to turn it off, but given what they cover, I need to try.
