I already started my Fincher watch cause I like to stay a few weeks ahead if possible. The Game and Mank are my only first watch on this one. I haven’t seen Ben Button since it’s first day in theaters.
looks like I'll *need* to watch Alien 3 (haven't seen any of those actually) The Game Panic Room The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo Mank The Killer not sure my fiance has seen Fight Club or Benjamin Button so we'll surely watch those too
I thought Mank was painfully boring. But I might not have been in the mood for it, considering the pandemic and all.
Alien 3 isn’t really good, but even that one has its moments and the bad stuff probably isn’t Fincher’s fault. He never missed after that in my opinion. Curious what they’ll do for the bonus episodes. I’m assuming it’ll be the music videos then one of the TV shows. The House of Cards pilot is probably more important in the history of TV, but I’d much prefer more discussion of Mindhunter.
Alien 3 isn’t particularly good, but I like it more each time I watch it. In a vacuum it’s good but it’s hard not to compare it to the two perfect movies it followed.
I'm so stoked they are covering Fincher, probably my favorite working western director not named Scorsese.
They announced what they’re doing for the September bonus episode on the last Oceans commentary, which is that they’re covering both Alien Vs. Predator movies. Hopefully the October episode is music videos or Mindhunter
Charles Dance is so good in 3. I didn't think much of Resurrection when I watched it last year, except that some of gore and production design was good.
I know there’s a big Alien3 reclamation happening the past few years, but it just doesn’t work for me at all
I'm not gonna argue those 2 are masterpieces or anything but they both have some cool stuff in them. I was under the impression most of my life they were unwatchable pieces of dogshit but thats classic internet nerd rage dictating something that isn't true
I forgot how good Se7en is. Early formative movie for me when I was a teenager but it's been a while since I gave it a proper rewatch.
watched it for the first time a couple of months ago before I even knew they were covering Fincher. Good ass movie
It's my all-time favorite movie. I didn't even have any of the playground rumor and mystique around it that they talk about it in the episode. I just saw that it was playing on one of the cable movie channels one night when I was in high school and thought the description sounded cool. I was utterly gobsmacked by it.
I haven't gotten to the pod yet, so not sure if they discussed it, but if you like Seven you should absolutely check out Kurosawa's Cure, kinda has the tone and bleakness but maybe even on a higher level.
