Sweet Charity is on something called Broadway HD which has a free trial My local library has All That Jazz I cannot imagine listening to this show without watching the movies. It would just wash over me
As a relative newcomer to this show: can someone explain to me the whole deal with Ben’s weirdness? In the Spiderman episode he marveled at how big Kingpin is, and I guess I just find his observations more on the irritating side than being offbeat and funny. But I might be missing something.
I think he just likes weird stuff. I started listening a couple of years ago, and have listened to a lot of the early episodes, and that’s pretty much it
Ben’s our finest film critic. Basically, his whole thing is that he doesn’t have the encyclopedia knowledge of film history that griffin or David do. He grew up watching movies like Joe Dirt on a porch in New Jersey. He chimes in with simple but hilarious takes to counter all the super nerdy details David & Griff go into. An essential element to why this show works. I highly recommend listening to the Kiki’s Delivery Service episode where they discuss how much Ben cried his eyes out to that movie
Looks like all that jazz is on roku for some reason, it's a fun little puzzle finding old movies Roku
My (Partial) Sam Raimi Ranking I didn't watch Crimewave (seemed like a mess) or For Love Of The Game (seemed like a snore) 1. Spider-Man 2 2. Spider-Man 3. Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness 4. The Quick And The Dead 5. The Evil Dead 6. Drag Me To Hell 7. The Gift 8. Evil Dead 2 9. A Simple Plan 10. Spider-Man 3 11. Army of Darkness 12. Darkman 13. Oz The Great & Powerful
For the Love of the Game is worth watching all the baseball scenes. Fast forward through it every single time it cuts away from the game. That's when it's soooo boring lol Anyway this is where I'm at. I also skipped Crimewave & The Gift 1. Evil Dead 2 2. Spider-Man 2 3. Spider-Man 4. The Quick and the Dead 5. The Evil Dead 6. A Simple Plan 7. Army of Darkness 8. Drag Me to Hell 9. Darkman 10. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness 11. Spider-Man 3 12. For the Love of the Game 13. Oz: The Great & Powerful
I thought about putting Dr Strange 1 or 2 spots lower because it's really half a Raimi movie, but I did enjoy it a lot so idk
I’m only 30 minutes into Sweet Charity, but this FUCKING RULES holy shit I was sold the second Charity’s “fiancé” pushed her off the bridge
I got about an hour into Sweet Charity and was having a great time. Gonna finish it tomorrow morning.
Now I’m wondering, if it’s not her. Who is it? Are the McElroy’s more famous than Kevin Smith? Paul Scheer and Jason Mantzoukas? Scott Aukerman? Nicole Byer? I’m sure there’s a bunch I’m missing.
