Campion update: I really really loved Portrait, Holy Smoke!, and In The Cut. Feel like I’m really only digging the lesser regarded films in her filmography.

also the researcher JJ was tweeting about Evil Dead reviews a few days ago and David just logged it on Letterboxd so it’s looking very likely that Raimi is next after all

So Raimi is 15 movies? Which I am guessing scheduling wise, would start March 20th or 27th (depending if there is a one-off after the Blankie Awards) and should take us until July. I am guessing at that point there will be a quick mini before the March Madness winner (Henry Selick maybe?)

 

Hopefully by then we know when Selick's new movie is coming out. If they can time it so it lines up with that, that would be great.

 

In the Cut FUUUUCKING rules. Cannot believe this got so savaged. Probably my #2 Campion now behind PotD.

I put it above Power of the Dog. Idk if that’s crazy but I’ve already watched it twice and I just cannot believe how incredible it is.

 

I will say I can kinda see why it was savaged in 2003 and why it would be so much more loved in 2022

 

yeahhhhhhh Dog is my #1 I think tbh. I have In The Cut at #4 currently behind Dog, Piano, and Sweetie. Still need to watch Bright Star.

What exactly is their March Madness and how does it work

 

Based on the IG post I believe it is directors who have at most one movie released post-2000. The rest have to be released before then. But I could be wrong, the wording in the vid is a little confusing.

EDIT: Unless you mean the tournament in general, which is just that listeners vote on a bracket to determine a director they cover at some point this year.

 

Yeah I meant the tournament. Is it on patreon, or do they put it on Twitter or something?

 

In past years they have done it on twitter, but last year there was controversy over people buying bots to vote - and because of the chaos they will be doing the vote on another not yet announced platform outside of twitter. This will be for main-feed only.

For the patreon special features bracket, they will continue to post those polls on patreon.

Has it been discussed ad nauseam how much Griffin interrupts? I’ve noticed it a lot more lately and it drives me a bit crazy.

 

Haven’t noticed that. I do notice that he says “Can I just say something really quick?” a lot instead of just saying the thing, but it doesn’t really bug me

 

Something about his interjections lately have really bugged me and feel like he has talk over the guest or David more. Maybe it's just me.
