I hadn’t watched it before today but had seen NY many times, and I’m so glad that after all these years the biggest question about Snake has been answered. They finally let us know that Snake Plissken is really good at Basketball and Surfing!
The treatment of the Pam Grier character was not great (albeit not surprising for a 90s movie) but other than that I thought it was fun.
Instant chemistry between all four of them which shouldn’t be surprising but man, it just clicks immediately.
I was definitely concerned about the silliness singularity that would be created by having Paul and Griffin together on an episode of Blank Check
Curious to see everyone’s reaction to Ghosts Of Mars, watched this movie a ton when I was like 9/10 and just revisited it for the first time in at least a decade and just... it works for me? It’s bad and it doesn’t really have any of Carpenters DNA in it... but I loved it?
I gotta say, I really liked a lot of what Vampires was doing. Extremely weird (in a good way) take on vampire mythology and vampire hunting. Just has a few things that drag it down, some of it being a product of the time it was made (some really not-great dialogue) and then the whole James Woods of it all.
Based on very little information I'm putting my money on Campion and Raimi as the next two miniseries.
That seems to be the consensus and it makes a lot of sense to me, but it should be noted that over the last week David has logged the first two Villeneuve films on LB
What did Griffin say in one of the last two episode, like someone brought up Evil Dead and he was like “a movie we’ll never cover on this podcast” lol I feel like they can’t do Raimi right after Carpenter, we need to go Camping first.
It would make sense to do Campion then Raimi, you could line up each of their new movies perfectly. Would Raimi be the first time they’ve covered a Marvel movie on the main feed?
It’ll be the first MCU movie in the main feed AND the first Marvel movie in the main feed period. Wouldn’t have been if Joe Johnston had won MM this year tho
Hope they call the Campion series “The Podwer of the Cast” A few good options for Raimi: Pod, The Cast and Powerful Podmy of Castness Pod Me To Cast
I looked at Raimis filmography EARLIER TODAY and I already forgot that his Oz movie existed. What a fucking bounce
For Raimi I’ve literally only seen the Evil Dead trilogy and the Spider-Man trilogy. So it’ll be a lot of new stuff for me.
