Griffin announced on today F9 High & Mighty that the next Patreon series after Twilight is going to be Riddick
I wonder when they’re gonna do those in person again. I could see them waiting longer for the main feed but the commentaries seem pretty easy.
With this being a 3 film series I would not be surprised to see them record them all in one sitting like they used to.
Final ranking of John Singleton’s movies: Boyz N The Hood 2 Fast 2 Furious Rosewood Shaft Higher Learning Poetic Justice Baby Boy Four Brothers Abduction
I’ve actually ONLY seen Chronicles of Riddick which I remember finding truly incomprehensible, only to find out it was a sequel like 5 years later. 2 Fast Boyz Rosewood Shaft Poetic Justice Four Brothers Higher Learning Abduction Baby Boy
I think Abduction might be the worst movie they’ve ever covered. Like, I think some are probably worse when you dig into the context and intentions and everything, but just in terms of sitting down to watch a movie thinking “Surely there’s SOMETHING I’ll be able to appreciate in here” and then pressing play and watching Abduction...oof!
I really hope they do Fincher after Carpenter. I don't vibe with the whole "it's not about the movies, it's about the conversation the movies generate" argument that I see from so many fans of the show. Yes, people have talked Fincher, or PTA, or the Coens to death, but that's because THEIR MOVIES ARE FUCKING GOOD AND THERE'S A LOT TO TALK ABOUT. I want three hours of content on Zodiac, please.
Yeah I feel the same way. Like if the movies are really good, why wouldn’t you want them to be discussed? People were saying the same thing about Carpenter during MM. Like, not wanting him to win because “he’s already been discussed to death.” It’s like, don’t you listen to this podcast to hear THESE GUYS discuss movies to death? These guys haven’t discussed them, so why wouldn’t you want to hear it?
I had a somewhat similar thought when Mitch and Nick were talking about maybe going to seasons for Doughboys today. I wanted to be like "you guys can literally talk about whatever you want, the fast food angle isn't really what draws me to the show, it's your dynamic."
Feel like after spending 18 weeks covering another white male director they’re gonna pivot hard. No clue what direction they’d go, but I feel like they gotta do something drastically different. Definitely want Fincher in the next few miniseries, just maybe not immediately after Carpenter
It does feel like they've been kind of seeing how far they can push into more interesting/less-well known pockets of Hollywood without affecting their listener numbers and keeping certain aces in their back pockets (ie Fincher, Kubrick, PTA) for if they ever need to pull them out.
I’m gonna be honest, after watching all of his movies, I don’t think Singleton was that great of a filmmaker. I can’t really imagine revisiting any of these again save MAYBE Boyz.
