It’s not bad. It does have problems though, and it’s lower on my list of blink releases I like to return to; but that being said I’d be lying if I said it didn’t have some bangers on it
Relistened to Neighborhoods for the first time in a long time and it's not as bad as I remember but still in the bottom tier as some of the songs are their worst since Cheshire Cat. Would have loved to see what they could have done if they were in the same studio together everyday for a few months with an actual producer that would tell them whether something was good or not. I look at this album as a pretty good demo album but as an actual album eh. With that said After Midnight to me is a top tier blink song and I really like Even If She Falls, Ghosts and Wishing Well too.
Idk how Kaleidascope is losing-- Mark's best lyrics post-reunion combined with Tom's best chorus post-reunion. Also Up All Night is an beautiful song and you can't change my mind. (But After Midnight deserves to win)
Up All Night Natives Hearts All Gone Interlude Ghost On The Dance Floor Hearts All Gone After Midnight Last matchup is a huge bummer
Ghost on the dance floor is one of blink’s best songs the album as a whole is good, obviously not one of their best but I don’t understand why so many people don’t like it.
I like Kaleidoscope a good bit more but if it was close Natives production is bad enough for me to still vote it down Kaleidoscope, Wishing Well, Even If She Falls, After Midnight probably my top 4 in no order
Up All Night-17 Fighting The Gravity-4 Kaleidoscope-8 Natives-13 Love Is Dangerous-12 Hearts All Gone Interlude-9 Ghost On The Dance Floor-18 Snake Charmer-3 This Is Home-3 Hearts All Gone-18 MH 4.18.2011-4 After Midnight-17
My top 5 in no order would probably be Natives, After Midnight, Wishing Well, Even If She Falls, and Hearts All Gone
Up All Night Natives Hearts Interlude Ghost on the Dance Floor Hearts All Gone After Midnight This album stinks
Fighting The Gravity Natives Love Is Dangerous Ghost On The Dance Floor Hearts All Gone After Midnight
I'll never understand why people hate Fighting The Gravity so much. Especially if you like +44 or In Transit
Up All Night-18 Fighting The Gravity-5 Kaleidoscope-8 Natives-15 Love Is Dangerous-13 Hearts All Gone Interlude-10 Ghost On The Dance Floor-20 Snake Charmer-3 This Is Home-3 Hearts All Gone-20 MH 4.18.2011-4 After Midnight-19
Theres only like 3 songs on here I'd personally consider stinky (Snake Charmer, This Is Home, Love Is Dangerous). And Snake Charmer and This Is Home really aren't that bad.
I don’t love FTG but it’s light years ahead of the garbage that is snake charmer. That’s bottom 3 blink for sure.
Fighting The Gravity (Tough matchup, but I decided to go with the more experimental song instead of the single) Natives (I really like Kaleidoscope but Natives is the best song on the album) Love Is Dangerous (It’s against an interlude cmon and I don’t hate this song as much as most) Snake Charmer (Fuck this is the most brutal matchup here, after deep thought Snake Charmer wins just barely as the better song for me) Hearts All Gone (NOT the worst song on the album as opposed to the other option..) After Midnight (Easy decision)
Yeah the only reason I chose Love Us Dangerous is because it's up against an Interlude. Otherwise it might be my least favorite on the album
Fighting the Gravity (a really weird, interesting song) Kaleidoscope Love is Dangerous Snake Charmer This is Home After Midnight (ooof - After Midnight is one of blink's best songs, but these are easily my two favorites off the record) My two cents - I think this release shows just how important Jerry Finn was to the sound of this band, and especially to how cohesive the self-titled record felt. None of these individual parts are bad, but very few of the songs here are able to synthesize them into something that feels complete.
Up All Night-19 Fighting The Gravity-7 Kaleidoscope-10 Natives-16 Love Is Dangerous-16 Hearts All Gone Interlude-10 Ghost On The Dance Floor-20 Snake Charmer-6 This Is Home-4 Hearts All Gone-22 MH 4.18.2011-4 After Midnight-22
Up All Night Natives Heart's All Gone Interlude Snake Charmer Heart's All Gone After Midnight A couple tough ones for me this round - the toughest being Ghost On The Dance Floor vs. Snake Charmer. I expect Ghost On The Dance Floor to win, but I've always liked that riff in Snake Charmer. All in all, I don't think this album is awful, but it was definitely underwhelming to me coming off Untitled. I don't revisit this much, but there's some good stuff here (and some not so good stuff too).
