I swear you’re a life saver haha thanks! Existing in a Crisis (Evelyn) - 3 Montauk - 10 Blame it on Bad Luck - 9 Half a Life - 4 Devotion and Desire - 12 Hello Shitty - 1 Tortures of the Damned - 6 We’ll Be O.K. - 7 (That SHOULD be correct)
Existing in a Crisis (Evelyn) vs. Montauk Montauk is a terrific song, but Bayside plays it at every. single. show. It's kind of taken away some of the enjoyment I receive from the song, so I'll go with Evelyn. Blame it on Bad Luck vs. Half a Life For me, it's the lyrics in Half a Life that give it the edge. I know Bad Luck will win this round, and that's fine with me, but Half a Life has always resonated with me pretty strongly. Devotion and Desire vs. Hello Shitty WHY??????????????????????????????????????? Why do I have to choose between these two songs? I'm voting for Hello Shitty because no one else will. Tortures of the Damned vs. We’ll Be O.K. The lyrics from We'll Be O.K. don't age very well. I still enjoy the song, but Tortures displays Anthony's raw emotions so well, something that became a staple on this album and is present in every record the band recorded henceforth. In addition, the intro to Tortures always reminds me of the old Victory Records commercial (something about "real" music). That thing aired on FUSE all of the time. If anyone finds a link to that commercial can you send it to me?
Existing in a Crisis (Evelyn) - 4 Montauk - 11 Blame it on Bad Luck - 10 Half a Life - 5 Devotion and Desire - 13 Hello Shitty - 2 Tortures of the Damned - 7 We’ll Be O.K. - 8 We’re really just playing for the last matchup at this point lol
I prefer Tortures but I'm pulling for "We'll Be Ok" just for an opportunity to have: I Think I'll be Ok VS. We'll be Ok Think about this everyone as you cast your future votes. Not that it has a chance of winning this album but heh
Montauk Blame it on Bad Luck Devotion and Desire Tortures of the Damned That first one was particularly tough. This record is wall-to-wall bangers.
That’s all for this round! Final results: Existing in a Crisis (Evelyn) - 4 Montauk - 13 Blame it on Bad Luck - 12 Half a Life - 5 Devotion and Desire - 15 Hello Shitty - 2 Tortures of the Damned - 8 We’ll Be O.K. - 9
SELF-TITLED ROUND 2 _________ Montauk vs. Dear Tragedy Devotion and Desire vs. They Looked Like Strong Hands We’ll Be O.K. vs. Don’t Call Me Peanut (Note: Bad Luck/Half a Life was supposed to be a second round matchup from the get go based on the randomly generated byes, but I mistakenly put it in the first. Bad Luck won and will be moving on to the third round)
Montauk - 2 Dear Tragedy - 0 Devotion and Desire - 1 They Looked Like Strong Hands - 1 We’ll Be O.K. - 0 Don’t Call Me Peanut - 2
Montauk vs. Dear Tragedy Montauk for not talking about putting heads on stakes and having that beautiful chorus. Also tragedy goes on for a little too long, I know it's the closer but... Devotion and Desire vs. They Looked Like Strong Hands Devotion is a bop. Easy. We’ll Be O.K. vs. Don’t Call Me Peanut Peanut for being sad as fuck.
Montauk - 4 Dear Tragedy - 0 Devotion and Desire - 2 They Looked Like Strong Hands - 2 We’ll Be O.K. - 0 Don’t Call Me Peanut - 4
Montauk - 5 Dear Tragedy - 1 Devotion and Desire - 3 They Looked Like Strong Hands - 3 We’ll Be O.K. - 2 Don’t Call Me Peanut - 4
Montauk vs. Dear Tragedy Same as what I wrote last time. Montauk is a great song, but IMO the band plays it too much and I'm a bit burned out on it. Devotion and Desire vs. They Looked Like Strong Hands Yes, Devotion will always be the band's most popular song. However, Strong Hands connects to me on a personal level so much stronger than Devotion does. I'll take a room full of people singing the words to Strong Hands over hearing Devotion for the 100th time any day. We’ll Be O.K. vs. Don’t Call Me Peanut The song is dripping with emotions. Also, my favorite coffee mug has the Bayside logo on it with "DRINK UP BEAUTIFUL" printed on the side, and it makes me think of this song every time I use it.
