I think I’ve always appreciated how different the song is. Plus, it’s another showtunes-y song, and it’s a waltz in 3/4 time.
The New Flesh It’s Not a Bad Little War I’m still shocked and appalled that The Ghost of Saint Valentine didn’t win last night.
Seeing Sound - that matchup was way tougher than I thought it'd be. Just listened to both songs again, and they're both really good. It’s Not a Bad Little War - These songs are also very equal to me, but I like the lyrics to War much more.
Seeing Sound It’s Not a Bad Little War listened to this album on the drive in this morning, and man i forgot how many JAMS it has. this is gonna be a fun.tough round. My wife has "If Fate Should Fail us Then Hope Will See Us Through" tattooed so I have an affinity for that song haha, it's a good one though.
This was my first Bayside album, so I think it'll always be my favorite! But The Walking Wounded is a close second.
i think this is far and away their best album - even though it's not my personal favorite, this album is MASSIVE and sounds like a real rock and roll record. the way the drums hit at some points sound so fucking good.
I think @Sean Murphy makes a good point. I got into Bayside right when Sirens came out—walked into a local CD store and bought it blindly because it was Victory Records. Killing Time was the first record that FINALLY didn't sound like it was recorded inside a wet tube sock. The production makes all the difference. As said before I still think that Social Club is their best-sounding record and their best record overall.
This is definitely their best / best sounding / my personal favorite bayside record. It sounds great and the songwriting is really good too. Jack really elevates his guitar playing here and the drums are so crisp.
Other than The New Flesh, I would say that these four are towards that bottom of my favorites for the album. Still love them all though, since this is my favorite record of theirs. Flesh War
I think both seeing sound and wrong way are kind of a good bridge between the new bayside production sound and their old style of songwriting. Only thing I don’t like about seeing sound is the “I’ve never been that trendy anyways” delivery. it sounds clunky.
Can I ask why we're going so fast without any warning? What's the rush? I can only find time to come on here once, maybe twice a day, and without a set schedule, it's really hard to participate right now. I came on here expecting to be voting for the semifinals for Shudder, seeing as the quarters didn't end (supposedly) until 1 pm yesterday. I'd think then that the semis would run through 1 pm today, or at least that we'd only be on the finals. Yet I come on here less than a day later to find out we're already on Killing Time! I understand wanting to end rounds early when it's impossible for the result to change, but then ending those rounds early makes it so that the next one ends earlier than expected, and so on. I have no idea what to expect if I log on at the same time each day. Even if I knew the rounds only lasted twelve hours, I'd adjust to find time for it, but it's impossible when no one knows when the cutoff will be. It seems like we're more interested in getting a final result than hearing people's thoughts and discussing these songs/matchups, and that's why I joined in. With my work/sleep schedules being so erratic, there's really no way I can check here and post 3-5 times a day on a previously unknown time frame, so I think I'll just leave this one to existing members from here on out. it's been fun, but I just can't keep up with it.
i wouldn't be opposed to slowing it down a little bit, i think i've definitely missed a few rounds due to not being able to log on as often as i'd like to
