By the way, think it needs to be said, @333 GANG is running this bracket very well. I like how we’re not waiting 24 hours if we don’t have to and can move on pretty quickly if we get all the votes in and if they’re not in, @333 GANG is tagging them to let them know. I’ve participated in a lot of these and most of the time you get 85% of the votes in within the first hour and then we wait 23 hours for the other 15% when it won’t make or break anything. So, great job so far, even though you somehow allowed Moceanu to get bounced in the first round.
Thank you so much! Very much appreciate the kind words. This is my first time running one of these, but I’m having a lot of fun with it, and the hurry up aspect of it all has to probably do with the fact that I’m one of the most impatient people on the planet lol I will cry myself to sleep at night over Moceanu’s trouncing for weeks to come.
We have 14/20 possible votes (from people who have participated previously) in right now. Boy - 8 The Ghost of Saint Valentine - 6
Echoing that @333 GANG is slaying this. First one I’ve participated in this extensively. For this one... Boy Probably my two favorite songs on the album. In the end it comes down to the Boy outro which is one of the best moments in the Bayside discography.
@333 GANG i want to say you are killing it, but the only thing you killed so far is Moceanu. (Kidding of course, you’ve been really great at this and I’m having a lot of fun with it)
Looks like we’re only missing the following voters for this round... @CAC3 @Pickles312 @SteveLikesMusic @DerekIsAGooner No rush, I’ll give y’all time, but these next few votes will tell the story here!
I’ve listened to each song a few times. I’m going to go with “Boy.” The piano in the introduction, the bridge, and the end of the song put it over the top for me.
Apologies to the couple people who didn’t get to vote, but the difference can no longer be made up based on the max number of voters we’ve had in any round to date, which means the winner of the Shudder bracket is... Boy! Final score: Boy - 11 The Ghost of Saint Valentine - 7 Up Next: Killing Time (I’ll set up the bracket here in a few minutes time, and it will continue into tomorrow)
KILLING TIME ROUND 1 __________ Seeing Sound vs. The New Flesh The Wrong Way vs. It’s Not a Bad Little War (This is only a 10-track record, so 6 songs get first round byes to make the bracket work) @bobsheiskawy @Maybevictor @contra11mundum @ncarrab @CAC3 @Yellowcard2006 @bachna84 @Sean Murphy @Drewski @Joe4th @koryoreo @danielm123 @Pickles312 @SteveLikesMusic @DerekIsAGooner @Anthony_ @JRGComedy @TDenverFan @disambigujason @BoldType @Leftandleaving
The New Flesh It’s Not a Bad Little War I like all 4 of these so not a clear cut round for me but I feel good about these votes. The guitar solo in War slaps and rips.
Seeing Sound vs. The New Flesh This one is a toss up for me. Neither song is a stand out on the album. Seeing Sound is a fun song because you can really hear how showtunes have influenced Anthony’s songwriting. The chorus on Nee Flesh absolutely rips, but the verse is a bit meh. The Wrong Way vs. It’s Not a Bad Little War War is one of my favorite tracks on the album. I really enjoy how aggressive The Wrong Way begins, but War has such a catchy chorus. Plus, who doesn’t enjoy clapping along to War’s second verse?
I really hope that Mona Lisa and Sinking and Swimming on Long Island get decent second round matchups. They’re the most underrated songs on the album IMO.
I would agree. Mona Lisa is a little bit divisive with fans I think, but I’ve always adored that song.
