Demons vs. Have Fun Storming the Castle

Tough matchup for Demons here. I enjoy it a lot, but Have Fun Storming the Castle is my favorite on the album, so it gets my vote. Love pretty much every part, the lyrics, the energy of the chorus, the solo, everything.

No One Understands vs. Howard

Not even close on this one. No One Understands is great, and Howard is one of the the few Bayside songs I actually just flat out dislike. I can't get into it at all. Skip every time. The new acoustic version just made it worse.

Roshambo (Rock, Paper, Scissors) vs. Moceanu

Moceanu is a nice acoustic song to finish out the album. Unique and quick. Not enough to beat Roshambo though. Great song. just a ton of pace and energy.

I Can’t Go On vs. A Call to Arms

I don't even know. It's a tossup. My gut tells me Call to Arms.

Howard was my least favorite song on this record when it dropped, but it’s grown on me a little bit over the years. Still lower tier Bayside for me.

 

Shudder has a case for my favorite Bayside album, but I think it's fallen below Killing Time and Vacancy for me. Anyway:

Moceanu (arguably my two favorite songs on the album but Moceanu is an all-timer for me)

A Call to Arms. (Love this song and I can’t go on is one of my least favorite Bayside songs ever)

 

The “Na Na Na Na Na Na” part of Moceanu is quite possibly my favorite thing this band has ever done. So glad I’ve seen them play this song live 4 or 5 times.

My thoughts exactly.

 

Moceaunu and Howard are probably two of my least favorite Bayside songs ever. The spelling out of words is a nice try at branching out, but it has always annoyed me. Easily the worst Acoustic song the band has ever released. Both songs suffer from shitty songwriting in general.

 

Can’t get on board with that take at all. Moceanu is excellent. I can see how the spelling out of words could turn some off, but otherwise, the song is wonderful. Especially that chorus.

Ok finally ready to vote. Forgot how much I love this album.

Demons - I’m not a huge fan of storming the castle, but I love some parts of demons, including the melodies.

No one understands - I like this song but it kind of wins by default because Howard doesn’t do anything for me.

Moceanu - Tough draw for this song since Roshambo is a fan favorite but y’all are doing it dirty. Such a weird song for them and a great set list staple for a stretch of time around Killing Time.

I can’t go on - this was the matchup that was the toughest for me, the songs are really evenly matched. Call to arms has a good energy and a killer guitar solo but it doesn’t get me as hyped up as it is supposed to for some reason. Giving I can’t go on the edge here because of the great guitar work to match the vibe and the melodies are so smooth. I can’t go on will suffer in later rounds because of its length, but for now it deserves to survive.
