Carry On (something about Horses has always kind of rubbed me the wrong way) Feet First (RIP to TWW and Holliness, but this is probably the best song on the album)
At this point, it looks like we’re playing for the first matchup. Landing Feet First appears to have a spot in the finals locked up.
Honestly, Horses is probably my third or fourth favorite song on the record, trailing only Landing Feet First, Dear Your Holiness, and maybe A Rite of Passage.
I'd put it behind TWW, Carry On, I and I, Choice Hops, Dear Holliness and (Pop)Ular Science. Maybe even head on a plate haha
I’ve always found Duality to be a bit of a snoozer. I still like the song, because I like almost every song by this band, but I think it’s one of their least interesting singles.
I also don’t really like using the term “deep cut” with this band because, love fest aside, they play the same sets over and over and over again so often that virtually everything else would be considered a deep cut lol
I think the bridge of duality is what gives it the edge for me, but I can see how it’s a pretty basic bayside song and some may be bored by it.
I think "Duality" is such a popular/important song for the band in large part because of when it was released (and that it's a good song that was released as a single).
Carry On - 6 They’re Not Horses, They’re Unicorns - 9 Duality - 5 Landing Feet First - 10 I don’t know that we have enough voters left to make up the difference in the first matchup. We could move on if people wanted to?
True. I just haven't heard Unicorns live in awhile so that's why I used the term but yeah their live show is beyond stale. I hope the rumored 20th anniversary tour has some sort of album play connected to it because there are so many songs I haven't heard for someone who has seen them 15 times. I'd love for a Self Titled/TWW tour. Sirens would be my first choice but Bayside fans suck so they'd never do that lol
I’d be more than down for any of the above. I hope to be able to hear all of Killing Time live someday, as well. There are so many great songs on that record that never see the light of day.
Carry On vs. They’re Not Horses, They’re Unicorns Very tough one. Almost a toss up. Listened to both of them again earlier and was more into Carry On today, so that gets my vote. Duality vs. Landing Feet First I like LFF, don't get me wrong, but Duality was one of the first Bayside songs to really get stuck in my head, and it captures a unique feeling, whereas LFF is a somewhat standard (albeit different for Bayside) love song.
That will do it for the semi-finals! Scores: Carry On - 7 They’re Not Horses, They’re Unicorns - 9 Duality - 6 Landing Feet First - 10
