I used to feel the same way about Rite of Passage, but in recent years that song has really grown on me. I love the intro, and the chorus really hits hard for me.
Choice Hops is my absolute favorite Bayside song. Will probably get pummeled the first chance it gets but they played it live when I saw them in 2016 and my head almost fell off I was so pumped.
I also love that song. It’s scheduled to face the winner of Carry On/Rite of Passage. I could see it pulling it out.
As much as I do enjoy Rite of Passage (and Carry On), I'd probably pick Choice Hops over both of them. So you got my vote at least lol
Carry On - 5 A Rite of Passage - 4 I And I - 6 (Pop)Ular SciencE - 3 Dear Your Holiness - 6 Head on a Plate - 3 The Walking Wounded - 8 Thankfully - 1
The best Bayside album is easily Live at the Bayside Social Club. I will not be taking further questions at this time.
Carry On - 7 A Rite of Passage - 4 I And I - 8 (Pop)Ular SciencE - 3 Dear Your Holiness - 7 Head on a Plate - 4 The Walking Wounded - 10 Thankfully - 1
Damn, for some reason I stop getting notifications for this thread randomly and miss a bunch of stuff Carry on Popular science Holiness Wounded
That happens to me all the time. I think on these forums if you check notifications but don't actually look at the thread you never get another notification...I think it's by design.
I enjoy this album a lot, but I literally couldn't tell you what the last three songs sounded like before relistening to it

Found this old article where Anthony ranks the first 6 albums, interesting read Rank Your Records: Bayside's Anthony Raneri Says He'd Like to Redo Some Things on 'Shudder'
I wouldn’t expect any less from someone putting out a new record at the time, but Cult at #1 is pretty funny to me. I still love that record, but it wouldn’t come close to the top of my list.
Never really understood the dislike for Cult from the fanbase. I really enjoy pretty much every song and, while it's nothing super inventive, I really can't think of any major issues that I have with it. It's probably middle of the pack toward the lower end of my favorite Bayside albums, but Bayside's a top 5 favorite band for me, so that's not a knock on the album
