Really? That’s so weird, the unicorn scene is so crucial to the story in the Directors and Final Cut, or at least to the insinuation that Deckard is a Replicant.
Personally, I think it makes way more sense with the clues given throughout the film and it adds another layer to it. Deckard’s mission was to eliminate the crew that escaped, while they tried to just live after a lifetime of slavery. Deckard being a Replicant adds a new perspective to it, in that he’s not really human after all and it ultimately leads to him fleeing LA in the end, he was no different and the experience retiring these Replicants made him realize he had to escape too. The film works much better that way in my opinion.
Yeah I mean you could make a case for both interpretations, I was just pointing out why a lot of people complain about the unicorn stuff.
Saw this the other day. Never saw the original (oops), but thought this was a gorgeous and intriguing film.
Bought the 4K blu-ray, don't even have a 4K TV yet but plan on purchasing one shortly. This will be the first film I watch on it. Such a gorgeous film.
Just watched it finally. I thought it was great. It really is a nice compliment to the original which is always tough to pull off when there’s such a gap between films. I was a bit confused at a few of the plot points, might require a rewatch.
this probably should have won best set design too. Ive never seen anything like it really. it is pretty awe inspiring.
Thrilled that it won two Oscars it totally deserved, but it should've gotten Production Design as well. I bet the fact that it was a sequel that used the original as a starting point is what sunk its chances in that department. Like, it wasn't "original." I don't agree at all, just probably what motivated a lot of Academy members to go with The Shape of Water over this.
This is my favorite of 2017 hands down. Shape of Water is great though and GdT deserves all the awards you can throw at him.
