Prisoners is my least favorite of Denis', for the ending alone. Still a very good film though. Edit: Have yet to see Polytechnique or Maelstrom though.
I definitely have seen a rise in people talking about this since it’s been available to own and rent, really love how more and more folks are coming around to it.
6) Incendies 5) Prisoners 4) Enemy 3) Sicario 2) Arrival 1) Blade Runner Denis might be my favorite consistently-working director right now.
Watched this again for the first time since the theater and it might be my second-favorite of 2017, no joke.
My roommate wanted to watch something tonight that would look awesome in 4k, so I convinced him to rent this. God damn it is still as beautiful as I remember in theaters.
fuuuuuck, johan johannsen (originally was gonna do the score and did denis’ previous films) passed away
Fuuuuuuuuucccckk; I had the pleasure of seeing him live back in 2016 in Minneapolis, performing tracks from his album "Orphee"; I talked to him afterwords and said I wish he'd played that famous track/theme from "Sicario", but he laughed and said he would have needed like 8 double basses or something, haha. This sucks
I know soo fucking sad. The guy was an amazing artist. Jóhann Jóhannsson, ‘Theory of Everything’ Composer, Dies at 48
That Sicario score is so fucking good. He was a master of tension imo. Y’all should check out the episode he did on Song Exploder if you haven’t before
Finally saw this tonight. The cinematography was astonishing, and I didn't realize I was emotionally invested in the Joe/Joi relationship until she gets crushed. Definite shades of Her with that overlay scene.
Do I need to know anything about Bladerunner at all to watch this movie? Never seen the first one. I like sci-fi and I like to take advantage of pretty things on my 4k TV lol.
The original film is one of the most staggeringly well-realized cinematic worlds of all time. The production design, effects work, and cinematography all combine to create this perfect storm of believability that immediately draws you in and makes the world feel extraordinarily lived-in. It's honestly incredible. And that's in addition to the amazing music and performances. One of the greatest works of science fiction ever. But yeah make sure to watch The Final Cut.
