I’m just about done with Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? and there is a lot of fascinating stuff that’s not present in the films. I knew the story elements were going to be different, but I didn’t realize how many thematic differences there are as well. Like, a large portion of the book revolves around Deckard being depressed and how they have these electronic mood dialers that regulate your mood and emotions. Additionally, Rachael is designed to be like that of an 18 year old, which is also pretty interesting. It also makes me curious to see what the colonization on Mars looks like.
This is out on digital tomorrow. Blu on the 16th I think I can say this is the best movie of the year. Wish I could see it in theaters again.
Still #1 for me. I think Phantom Thread might be the only thing that could take it from the top, who knows when I’ll ever get to see it though.
This has definitely dropped on my list. Phantom Thread, Lady Bird, and A Ghost Story all did more for me. Probably even Killing of a Sacred Deer too. Bummed I didn’t get to see this is theaters a second time though.
Has anyone purchased this film on iTunes? I did and the audio is extremely low. For my other films my volume stays around 20, but for BR2049 my volume has to go to 45. I’m assuming this is on the studio that sent Apple the .mp4 file and an email to Apple wouldn’t do any good.
It makes me sad but I respect his decision. Hopefully we’ll get to see some of those scenes cut one day.
I’m definitely holding out for the Blu Ray. Like I never have been big on digital releases, the quality is always lacking in my opinion.
Looks like the short films are included in the special features, which is really rad for those who didn’t get to watch them. No deleted/extended scenes though.
